On July 23, 2005, Tan Shujun, a Falun Gong backbone in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S., was suffering from apoplexy when she joined in the "Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Session, Washington DC". Then she was sent to hospital for emergency rescue at once with being diagnosed with brain death and could only rely on ventilators to survive. Some of her Falun Gong fellow practitioners claimed that Tan's Primordial Spirit was still flying around. Falun Gong high level soon consulted Li Hongzhi for how to deal with the matter of Tan's brain death, and asked if he could call Tan's Primordial Spirit back. Li Hongzhi responded that he of course could call her Primordial Spirit back but its return depended on her own will. On July 25, 2005, the ventilator was removed, Tan Shujun died officially at 65 years old.
Tan Shujun once wrote articles such as "Confession of a Left-wing Overseas Chinese" which spread the heresies and supported the cult. Besides, she donated to sponsor all kinds of Falun Gong activities such as the so-called American "Epoch Times Golden IQ New Grand Prix" organized by the Epoch Times and so on.
In recent years, Yu Zhongyuan, her husband she was very satisfied with divorced her suddenly. And her two children also suffered painful retribution, which was her unforgettable pain in her life. However, these successive incidents did not wake her up until she died.
In recent years, the cases about overseas Falun Gong disciples' death are in a sudden surge, which cause quite a scare among the high level of Falun Gong, including Li Hongzhi. The disclosure of such messages should shake the "God" or "Buddha" position of Li Hongzhi within Falun Gong organization, resulting in faith crisis among ordinary disciples on believing the Falun Gong doctrine. Li Hongzhi has convened the overseas backbones secretly, and demanded all the insiders should strictly block such messages, no one could disclose such negative information.
