Tong Yuexian, of Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, developed mental problems after she started to practice Falun Gong. She neglected her family and her son's schoolwork.

Tong said that she wanted to cut her own heart out and present it to Li Hongzhi. When she tried to jump out of a window and kill herself, her husband committed her to a mental hospital on June 8, 1999.

After 44 days of treatment, Tong Yuexian was discharged. She abandoned Falun Gong, and the family is reunited and happy once again.
