Li Weidong, a farmer of Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, had been infatuated with Falun Gong. On February 15, 1999, he said to his family that the world was about to be destroyed and he had to leave as quickly as possible. The same day he hanged himself, leaving his heartbroken 89-year-old mother alone.
