Falun Gong loses Santa Parade bid

Falun Gong has failed in its court bid to force its way into Auckland's Santa Parade.

A High Court judge has ruled against the Chinese group's attempt to get an injunction. It wanted its Divine Land Marching Band to be allowed to take part after being denied entry by organisers for a number of years.

Falun Gong argued it was being excluded purely on the grounds it is a political group. It said it was being discriminated against.

The Auckland Santa Parade Trust said the event is about the children, not a chance for groups to get their message across.
