Santa Parade looks to festive spirit

The Auckland Santa Parade Trust is focussing on the festive spirit, now its battle with a Chinese political group has been sorted.

A High Court judge has ruled against Falun Gong's attempt to force its way into Sunday's parade. The group called for the judicial review after the Parade's trust turned down its application. Trust chairman Michael Barnett says while Falun Gong's cause might be valid, the parade is not about pushing agendas. He says the parade was designed for family, and is about fun and fantasy.

A large number of cultural groups representing Auckland's ethnic diversity will take part in the event.
