In order to turn his followers into Falun Gong diehards, Li Hongzhi calls on his disciples to eliminate all worldly attachments (including the ones to human body), encouraging them to "lay down life and death to reach Consummation."
Li Hongzhi tells his followers, "If you let go of life and death, you are a God; if you can not let go of life and death, you are a human."[1]
"It is in fact time to let go of your last attachments. As cultivators, you already know that you should, and in your actions you have, let go of all worldly attachments (including the attachment to human body) and have made it through the process of letting go off life and death."[2]
"If you succeeded in cultivating into a great god or a great Buddha ...You will be able to hold the earth in your palm with no effort at all."[3]
"In the Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, the trees are made of gold, and so are the ground, birds, flowers, and houses. Even the Buddha-Body is golden and shiny"... "When he succeeds in cultivation in the future, he will have whatever he wants just by holding out his hands, and he will have anything he desires. He can do anything he wants, and there is everything in his paradise."[4]
Fascinated with Paradise and Consummation vividly depicted by Li Hongzhi, the Dafa disciples discard kinship affections and disregard humanity, some of them even commit suicide by setting fire to themselves or jumping off buildings, hoping to reach Consummation by "Laying down worldly attachments." Yet the Consummation they expected is nowhere to find though they have already "Let go of life and death."
Chang Haochi was a victim mentioned in Falun Gong Kills My Son, in order to concentrate on practice of Falun Gong he did not care about his thesis defense of graduation. In the end, he did not reach the Consummation his Master promised. It seems to the outsiders that, even if the disciples "lay down life and death," they will not be able to see the "Falun Paradise" or enjoy the feeling of "levitating very lightly and wonderfully."
To begin with, Li Hongzhi vilifies human beings and calls the earth "a garbage dump."
He claims, "Earth is but the garbage dump for the universe."[5]
"A person's earliest life comes from the universe... Some human beings have to leave their original level because they become selfish and degrade themselves. They drop down level by level... until here, to the Earth... From the functions' point of view or from the great Enlightened Beings' perspective, those who have descended to the level of human beings on Earth should be all disposed of."[6]
"In this enormous universe, Earth looks just like an apple – an apple which has become rotten inside and out. Just like every individual human being, every particle inside of this apple is rotten."[7]
Poisoned by Li Hongzhi's heresies, the Dafa disciples, instead of regarding human beings as the Lords of creation, consider themselves sinners who have committed monstrous crimes in previous lifetime or, scum bags that deserve "being disposed of." For Dafa disciples, to escape from this world is a mission of top priority. Why on Earth should they cherish their lives?
Furthermore, Li Hongzhi advertises, "For human beings to be human is not the goal. The goal is to return to your original true self."[8] What Li Hongzhi means is that for human beings who come to this world (the "Earth garbage dump"), the only purpose is to bear hardship and remove the Karma, being a human being itself is not the purpose. The only way for human beings on Earth to go back to their paradise is, according to Li Hongzhi, to bear hardship and to remove the Karma through cultivation and practice Falun Gong. Only when they recover their original nature and return to their true self will they be able to return to Paradise.
"Inborn quality is a condition from birth, Right enlightenment is the reason for a high-level person's wisdom. With Zhen-Shan-Ren in the heart, there is Dao, Cultivation Falun Dafa can lead to Consummation."[9]
According to Li Hongzhi, human beings come from Paradise. Because their hearts become attached to something, they drop level by level down to this world – the garbage dump of the universe. Human beings will eventually return to their Paradise. There is one but only one way for human beings to return to their Paradise – to bear hardship and to remove the Karma by cultivation and practicing Falun Gong. In other words, human beings will not be able to return to Paradise until they recover their original nature and return to their true self by Falun Gong practice. As is always advertised by Li Hongzhi, "It is (Gong) directly on your master soul, it comes with you when you're born and it goes with you when you die... In other words, what you give up are bad things... you gain... your level is raised, you eventually obtain a True Fruition, and you reach Perfection – what it resolves is the fundamental problem."[10] For Dafa disciples their permanent home is the Paradise, and Earth is just a temporary place to "bear hardship and remove the Karma." In addition, their "master soul" will never become extinct. So there is absolutely no point for the disciples to cherish their flesh bodies. Some even think it is necessary to kill people and "help them returning to their true selves."
Li Hongzhi claims, "If you practice Falun Gong just for the purpose of curing the disease and strengthening your body, no devil will disturb you; but when you try to raise your level by cultivation, the devils will come to intervene – they don't let you succeed in cultivation, and disturb you in every possible ways. The devils come at you in many forms... for instance, as soon as you begin your practice, something occurs, disturbing you. So you can not sit still and calm your mind. In this way you are not able to cultivate yourself up to a higher level."[11]
"If the evil has already reached the point where it is unsavable and unkeepable, then various measures at different levels can be used to stop it and eradicate it... Completely eliminating the evil is for Fa-rectification, and not a matter of personal cultivation."[12]
Poisoned by Li's fallacies, the Dafa disciples regard people who interfere in their cultivation as "the demons." In order to "cultivate into a high level," and to "eliminate the evil and eradicate the demons," the Dafa disciples have cruelly killed many innocent people – among them, some are the disciples' own family members.
As mentioned in A Man Kills His Father and Wife Simply for Consummation, Fu Yibin is an example. Instigated by Li Hongzhi's fallacy of "Eradicating the demons," Fu cruelly killed his own father and wife with a kitchen knife!
Xiao Rong, a victim mentioned in Four Falun Gong Members Kills Their Fellow for "Driving out the Evil" was killed by her Falun Gong friends who all thought she was controlled by "an evil fox spirit." Wang and other two Falun Gong disciples burned her with boiling water, froze her over with ice cubes, and even kicked her with their feet to "help" her drive out the evil – until she was tortured to death. A young life was destroyed.
Li Hongzhi even labels murder as "Settling malevolent predestined relations with benevolent solutions," or "Saving people to Paradise."
"If a large being is killed by someone, then that person's sins and karma become enormous, especially when it's a human being who is killed. So when someone has generated such karma he has to pay it off... But as for the very real, awful situation the beings are in, their painful enduring, and their material loss after they are killed, the cultivator will have to, in the process of consummating everything of his own, save those beings or repay them with blessings using the fruits of his cultivation. Then from that perspective, the compensation the killed beings receive far exceeds what they would have received among humans. And this has thus settled malevolent predestined relationship with benevolent solutions."[13]
"At the same time, a portion of the lives that you harmed will become beings in the paradise you will have after you consummate, so it will turn into a good thing. If the to-be-harmed life knew, 'Oh, I'll go to a Buddha's paradise in the future,' it would stretch its neck out to let you kill it. It would happily, cheerfully let you kill it."[14]
"The Three Realms are the reverse of everything in the cosmos, so the Fa's principles have also provided beings at this level with reversed principles suitable for the existence of everyday people."[15]
