（kaiwind.com）According to Esquire.com, "Breaking Bad" creative team has been tapped by HBO to develop a new drama series for the network. Titled "Raven," the said show will center on cult-leader Jim Jones and the events that led to the infamous 1978 mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana.
Vince Gilligan will be teaming up with Michelle Mclaren, who once directed episodes for both "Breaking Bad" and "Game of Thrones." She will be manning the script for the show's pilot, with assistance from actress Octavia Spencer, who won the BAFTA , Golden Globe , SAG and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Raven will chronicle the formation of Jones's doomsday cult, known as the Peoples Temple, its disturbing progression throughout the 1970s, and its tragic ending with the Jonestown Massacre in 1978.
"Jim" Jones was an American cult leader. Jones was the founder and leader of the Peoples Temple，infamous due to the mass murder-suicide in November 1978, 918 of its members in Jonestown, Guyana, this event was the largest single loss of U.S. civilian life in a deliberate act until 9/11.
Gilligan is adapting the series from the book Raven: The Untold Story of Jim Jones and His People by Tim Reiterman, a journalist who survived the events in Guayana.

Peoples Temple
The Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ,commonly shortened to Peoples Temple, was a new religious movement founded in 1955 by Jim Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jones used the Peoples Temple to spread a message which combined elements of Christianity with socialist politics, with an emphasis on racial equality. The group moved to California in the 1970s and established several locations throughout the state, including its headquarters in San Francisco. At its peak, the Temple boasted 20,000 members and connections with left-wing political figures.
The Peoples Temple is best known for the events of November 18, 1978, in Guyana, when 918 people died in a mass murder/suicide at its remote settlement, informally called "Jonestown", as well as the murders of Congressman Leo Ryan and members of his visiting delegation in nearby Port Kaituma. The mass suicide and killings at Jonestown resulted in the greatest single loss of American civilian life in a deliberate act prior to the events of September 11, 2001.
