Early in the morning of July 17, 1999, Long Gang, a self-employed man of Shuangshi Town, Chongqing, jumped into a river with his six-year-old son in his arms. Long Gang was drowned, although the boy was saved.
His wife and neighbors said that since he started to practice Falun Gong, Long Gang had been afraid that the world would be destroyed, as Li Hongzhi had preached. So he wanted to fly to Heaven to escape the disaster.
Long Gang's wife said that she would never forgive Li Hongzhi for making her lose her husband.
