On the early morning of July 17, 1999, Long Gang, a self-employer of catering business in Shuangshi County, Chongqing, embracing his 6-year-old child and murmuring, got rid of the resistance of his family and ran to Shuangshi bridge, from where he jumped. His family and the neighbors immediately got into the water for rescue. Long's son was saved, but Long died.
According to Long's acquaintances, after Long began to practice Falun Gong, he often said with fear that the earth was going to perish and he would fly to the heaven for shelter. "Ever since his practice of Falun Gong, he was off his top, only remembering gods or spirits all the time. He even said that he could sit and fly in the sky," Long's wife said with grief and indignation.
