Qian Shujun, a 34-year-old worker from Nantong, Jiangsu Province.
He once contracted hepatitis. In January 1999, he was introduced by others to begin practicing Falun Gong, but before long he went insane. On February 15, Qian fainted at work, and was immediately taken to the No. 2 People's Hospital and later transferred to the Nantong Hospital for Contagious Diseases for treatment. When he was in the two hospitals, he even could not stop practicing. After he returned home, his family asked six other practitioners, who used to practice with him, to come to read for him Li Hongzhi's book. On the morning of February 17, he told his 10-year-old daughter, "I will be out for a long time," and left home barefooted. His family searched for him everywhere but all in vain. It was not until March 17 did they find his decomposed body in a river at Jiuweigang. An autopsy confirmed that he had died by drowning.
