One of the greatest tragedies in one's life is losing his son at an advanced age. Whenever talking about his 12-year-old son who died because of Falun Gong, he becomes choked with sobs.
Twelve years ago, Song, already in his fifties, and his wife Ma Xiurong were overjoyed at the birth of twin sons. The elder son Song Shuanglong had two more pieces of cartilage in his nasal cavity and had to be treated in hospital on and off. On the New Year's Day of 1999, Song Shuanglong's condition worsened. Ma Xiurong, who had practiced Falun Gong for three years and believed it could cure all illnesses, began to teach her son Falun Gong. But Song Shuanglong's illness went from bad to worse and his eyes, at first fogy, soon became blind. Even then Ma Xiurong still stubbornly instructed her son, who could hardly stand by himself, to perform different movements of Falun Gong, because she believed Li Hongzhi would free her son from all evil diseases. On 12 May, the 12-year-old boy died at home.
