Why does Falun Gong tamper figures

2007-09-20 Source:Kaiwind Author:By: Bao Shan Shi

People who are often in touch with Falun Gong media should be familiar with the three sets of figures published on them, i.e. declaration of "three quits", "stern declaration" of "resuming practicing Falun Gong", and the so-called "declaration of world disillusion". For most people, such games of figures that are of no creditability would not stir up strong reactions, or are just beneath their notice. Recently, the author has paid much attention to these three sets of figures and discovered that the seemingly unrelated three sets of figures are of causal relations behind.

I. What does the figure for "stern declarations" truly reflect

The activity of "stern declaration" launched by Falun Gong organization began in June 2001. The first person to publish his "stern declaration" on Minghui Net was Gao Qingyin, former head of the general station of Falun Gong in Anhui Province. By August 31, 2007, according to Minghui Net, a total number of 376,264 "stern declarations" have been published.

Minghui Net claims that a "stern declaration" is made by the practitioner who used to write "guarantee for no further practice of Falun Gong" under the pressure of evil to resume practicing Falun Gong, and should be made under one's true name. No alias is allowed or the declaration should be deemed invalid. On occasions that "stern declarations for practice" published under alias are discovered, they will also be deleted.

It is the view of the author that with regard to the "stern declarations", although Falun Gong organization requires that they be published under true names, it will not be able to differentiate if the practitioners use alias or other common people publish them on the Internet.

It is the view of the author that bewitching those few former Falun Gong practitioners who have been educated and transformed by the government but still cherish some kind of complex for practicing to reach Buddhahood or immortality is virtually a forced conduct of Li Hongzhi and his Falun Gong organization. After the illegal organization of Falun Gong was cracked down by the government, Li Hongzhi wrote "scriptures" to threaten those Falun Gong members who practiced at home, with a purpose to force them to participate in activities confronting the government. For instance, in "Serious Instructions", Li claimed that no matter how they stuck at practicing Falun Gong at home, they were under the control of devil on the way to evilness.

When the Falun Gong practitioners who openly confronted the government were educated out of Falun Gong organization by the government in various ways on the whole, Li Hongzhi had to take back his threats and said a practitioner might be taken advantage of by evilness and did something that a practitioner should not do. However, a practitioner should be judged in his entirety. I don't admit these. When they finally come to themselves, they will do what a "Dafa" practitioner should do under such circumstances at once. He also claimed that what said and done by practitioners when they were insane due to high-pressure persecution should be invalid, and practicing was to be continued (man's will would not be changed by force). In this way, he attempted to prevent the diminishment of Falun Gong in China and seek overseas support.

376,264 declarations were made in about 6 years. Even the factors of cheating on the part of Falun Gong organization and participation of other people are not taken into account, this figure shows that more than 60,000 people were re-attempted by Falun Gong organization every year. After consulting pertinent department in charge of fighting cults, the author also knows that there were some former Falun Gong practicers taking up Falun Gong again due to various reasons. But as long as they made the declarations under true names, the government would go on educating them, most of whom would finally give up Falun Gong.

Even if more than 60,000 people every year still believe that Falun Gong would help them become Buddha or immortal, compared with the number of over 2 million of practitioners published by the government when it cracked down Falun Gong, or with the number of "100 million of Dafa followers in China" claimed by Li Hongzhi, this is a very small figure. If compared with the total population of over 1.3 billion in China, it is even smaller. Apparently, the power of Falun Gong organization to stir up Dafa followers in China is already very weak.

II. The "three quits" rules are of no good faith, and the figure lacks the slightest creditability

Since December 2004, Falun Gong organization started its "three quits" activity (quit the Communist Party, quit the Communist Youth League, and quit the Young Pioneers) on its subsidiary epochtimes.com, aiming at overthrowing the existing Chinese government. Li Hongzhi, who was 52 years old at the time, took the lead in declaring his quit from the Youth League under the name of Dafa (according to the regulations for the Youth League, members who are 28 years old shall automatically quit the League except for those who have a position in the League), thus marking the prelude for the game of figure-creating "three quits".

According to the "service center for quitting the Party" of Falun Gong organization, the center was specially established on February 22, 2005, and so far more than 100 regional service centers or stations for quitting the Party have been set up in more than 30 countries or regions of the 5 Continents around the globe. Tens of thousands of "volunteers" (various evidence has shown that these volunteers are made up of overseas democratic movement activists, Falun Gong practitioners, anti-Chinese activists, and some employed ones) are providing the "Chinese people" with all kinds of services in "three quits". At present, according to epochtimes.com, the number of "three quits" has reached over 25 million.

It is the view of the author that Falun Gong organization and few overseas Chinese with evil intentions attempt to get to their unspeakable purposes through playing with figures.

With regard to the issue of "three quits", the author has the following discoveries:

First, the "three quits" rules are very confusing, not being able to make themselves sound plausible. In the "solemn declaration of Epochtimes", Falun Gong organization describes the purpose of the "three quits" "all those who have joined the Communist Party or other organizations of the Communist Party should quit immediately, wiping the mark of evilness. Once the devil is reckoned with, records of the Epochtimes will provide evidence for those who declared their quitting from the Communist Party and other organizations of the Communist Party.

As to how to "quit", there is also a special declaration on epochtimes.com in consideration of the special circumstances in the mainland of China, people in the mainland of China who quit the party or the league may use either pen names or nicknames, which shall both be valid. Overseas people may also quit the party using alias (http://epochtimes.com/gb/5/2/18815842.htm). The Epochtimes also requires that declaration made for a third person should have his own consent, and as for the joint declaration made by several people, the number of people should be indicated and each name (either real name or alias) should be listed in the main part of the declaration.

However, in his answers for questions about the "three quits", Li Hongzhi clearly said that "after the 'Nine comments' was published, there is a new situation, that is, declaring the quitting from the Party for one's family members. Few family members do not agree. 'You can't disagree! I am representing you to quit the party.' (audience laughed) Actually, he really can't disagree." He also openly supported his followers in representing dead relatives to quit: "yes, no problem. The deceased couldn't come to the Epochtimes to publish their declarations on the newspaper or on the website. (audience laughed and applauded) yes. Will it be effective Yes, effective." (speech made at the West US International Dafa Association on February 26, 2005) This is controversial to the requirement of "having one's own consent".

On the one hand, Falun Gong organization claims that "quitting" under alias, pen name or nick name, and quitting for the dead are all effective, and "god" would know it. On the other hand, however, according to the "website bulletin for quitting the Party" of the Epochtimes, "consideration should be given, as much as possible, to the question that whether an alias has the same function of a name", "alias should be a normal name", and "numbers", "letters" are not allowed in alias. "Common" alias should be avoided, and alias related to "heroes" or "Party culture"(such as Tongzhi (meaning "comrade"), Airen (meaning "spouse"), Jianguo (meaning "founding of the country", Gaige (meaning "reform") have to be avoided in particular. Many rules are ridiculous and absurd, having the color of witchcraft and superstition and not being able to make themselves sound plausible.

Second, the figure for the "three quits" is somewhat confusing public opinion. According to Falun Gong organization, the "three quits" refers to quitting the Communist Party, quitting the Communist Youth League, and quitting the Young Pioneers. However, in its propaganda, it basically promotes in the name of "quitting the Party". For instance, the operating organ specially established by Falun Gong organization is called "global service center for quitting the Party", the bulletin on its website is called "website bulletin for quitting the Party", and in its hype around the world, it always hold up the title of "quitting the Party". Actually, the figure for the "three quits" is the sum of "quitting the Party, quitting the League and quitting the Young Pioneers". Therefore, it is the view of the author that the purpose of Falun Gong organization is to cheat the ignorant public, foreigners who are unaware of the situation in China in particular.

Third, the authenticity of the figure is doubtful. By August 31, 2007, the author found the total number of the people quitting the Party (League and Young Pioneers) published on epochtimes.com to be 25,490,052. The "three quits" may be carried out on the Internet using alias, nick name or pen name, and one can represent others in doing so, including registering for the deceased. It does not have restriction on national boundaries either. As what we can see now, although Falun Gong organization claimed that this activity is carried out for "god", or , for the protection of god when "heaven distinguishes the Communist Party of China", it could not guarantee the authenticity of the figure it gets. We can see this more clearly with just two examples. A netizen with the alias "humorous old man" logged in the Party quitting website of Falun Gong with numerous aliases and published 108 Party quitting declarations that were all recognized. He later publicized this on "Tianjian BBS". A Falun Gong practitioner named Yang Xiufang, who lived in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province, collected a list of more than 2000 people (among which only few were Party members) since March 2006 and later provided the list to fellow practitioners to register for "three quits" on the Internet. After getting rid of the control of Falun Gong, she publicized this ridiculous act of hers on kaiwind.com.

It is the view of the author that with the open summon of Falun Gong organization to its followers and under the circumstance that even the deceased can also participate, the "three quits" is just like what Li Hongzhi said when he was teaching Falun Gong - "a very wide gate opened". Any figure, no matter how large it is, can be created. It is only a question of time.

III. What does the figure for "declaration of world disillusion" mean

"Declaration of world disillusion" is another farce carried out by Falun Gong organization after the "three quits" to work with the previous two declarations.

The earliest "declaration of world disillusion" that could be found on Minghui Net was dated October 19, 2005 (stern declarations of 16 disillusioned people), and the date from which the declarations are counted was November 15, 2005 (stern declarations of 57 disillusioned people). The 57 declarations were the first ones to be counted, but the 180 declarations made in 6 times published before that were excluded. This fully shows the hurriedness and confusion of Falun Gong organization in carrying out its activities to deceive its followers, and is absolutely in conformity with the fallacies and absurdities made up freely by Li Hongzhi himself, which means that despite the controversies and loop holes, fallacies are thrown out first; if controversies and loop holes are pointed out, chicanery would follow. The following links are where the starting point of "declaration of world disillusion" and the counting can be found as evidence:
http://search.minghui.org/mh/articles/2005/10/19/112689.html

http://search.minghui.org/mh/articles/2005/11/15/114372.html

By September 1, 2007, the total number of "declarations of world disillusion" published on Minghui Net was 58,379, the fewest of the three activities.

After reading the published declarations of disillusion, the author finds out that according to the content of the declarations, they were mainly made by two kinds of people, one being those declaring in the name of relatives to Falun Gong practitioners, and the other being those that used to be disposed by the government and were resentful at the society.

It seems that Falun Gong media have not indicated any restricting conditions for the activity of "declaration of world disillusion" directed by Falun Gong organization. Compared with the other two activities, this one is looser, and anyone at home or abroad can participate. Falun Gong claimed that 58397 people showed their support for Falun Gong. This is quite different from the propaganda slogan of Falun Gong that "the world is already disillusioned", and is in conflict with what Li Hongzhi claimed a few years ago that "today is very different from the start of the July 20 persecution in 1999. Not only the world is becoming clear-minded, other creatures and matters are all experiencing the same change. That is to say, the situation is totally different." (speech made in 2003 at Atlanta Dafa Association), "People in the mainland of China are disillusioned in particular." (speech made in 2004 at West US Dafa Association).

It is the view of the author that the activity of "declaration of world disillusion" is a promoting measure carried out by Li Hongzhi and his Falun Gong organization for their long-term confrontation against the Chinese government, because the over six billion population of the world is enough to be a guarantee till Li Hongzhi finally leaves the world "in completeness".

IV. Causal relations among the three sets of figures

It is the belief of the author that anyone, including infatuated Falun Gong followers, would see that there are causal relations among the above-mentioned three sets of figures.

From the aspect of distribution of population, the world is the largest group, with a population of nearly 7 billion. The next shall be the group of "three quits", because the number of people meet the requirement of Falun Gong for the "three quits" is certainly more than 2 billion (anyone with a CCP background, including the deceased). For the group of Falun Gong practitioners, statistics of the Chinese government show that there were over 2 million, and according to Li Hongzhi, when Falun Gong was cracked down by the government in July 1999, there were 100 million. However, up to now, although Falun Gong organization has been developing abroad for a decade, judging from the fact that Falun Gong would inevitably gather together an "airborne troop" for its activities abroad, there are far fewer members than it used to have in China. Therefore, the number of Falun Gong practitioners should be the smallest.

From the aspect of the numbers of the declarations made, the three kinds of declarations listed in descending order shall be as follows the "three quits", "stern declarations", and "declaration of disillusion". From the aspect of starting time of these activities, the time order is as follows the "stern declaration", "three quits", and "declaration of disillusion" (10 months later than "three quits"). From the aspect of compatibility, people who take part in "three quits" may also publish "declaration of disillusion".

According to the factual conditions for the three kinds of declarations of Falun Gong listed by the author, if the propaganda of Falun Gong were effective, the figures should not be the same with the present ones published by Falun Gong organization. The numbers in descending order should be that of the "declarations of world disillusion", "three quits", and "stern declarations".

It is the view of the author that the result published by Falun Gong organization is related to factors such as hurriedness of Falun Gong in responding to the policies of the Chinese government in dealing with Falun Gong, the authenticity of these three activities, and the miserableness within Falun Gong, etc. In more than 6 years, Falun Gong only published about 370,000 examples of resuming practicing Falun Gong, which fully indicates that Falun Gong does not have much market in China; in 2 years, Falun Gong only found about 50,000 supporters, which shows that how isolated it is; and in less than 3 years, it created more than 25 million participants in "three quits", which reveals the eagerness of Falun Gong in its anti-Chinese ambition. The three different "declarations" reflect the inside divergency of Falun Gong organization.

The author will continue to follow closely of the games of figures that Falun Gong is going to play in the future.
