To normal people, “ascending in broad daylight” and “reaching consummation as a god” is nothing but heretical fallacies preached by Li Hongzhi. But for the "Dafa disciples" who are addicted to “practicing cultivation,” these kinds of heretical fallacies are the chief culprits bringing about many of their terrible tragedies.
Li Linfang, a doctor from Luzhou Medical College Affiliated Hospital, still felt sorry for the death of her sister-friend Wu Meng whenever someone mentioned it, although it happened many years ago.

Wu Meng was born in August 1964, living in Jinianbiao Community, Dashanping Street, Jiangyang District, Luzhou City. She met Li Linfang one day when she went to see a doctor in the hospital.
According to Li Linfang, she met Wu Meng in 1995. It was perhaps because of their predestined relationship that they soon became sister-friends. As Li Linfang was a few years older than Wu Men, she was naturally called “elder sister” by Wu Meng.
One day in 1996, Wu Meng came to Li Linfang, telling her that that Sister Zhang, one of her neighbors, was teaching her to practice Falun Gong. Li Linfang cautioned her that practicing Falun Gong might not work, and advised her to believe in science. Wu Meng originally thought that Li Linfang would support her practicing Falun Gong, but Li’s words were so disappointing to Wu Meng that she finally left unhappily.
Since practicing Falun Gong, Wu Meng gradually became obsessed with it, falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of the evil cult. Through the so-called "Fa-study," she felt that practicing Falun Gong could benefit both herself and her family and that it could also eliminate misfortunes and disasters for her relatives and friends. Not convinced that Falun Gong had such miraculous power, Li Linfang advised Wu Meng to stop believing in it. However, Wu Meng said: "When we practice Gong, we hold our hands together thinking about nothing else. It is like flying through the clouds and rising up into the sky."
Further later, with the increasing obsession with her practice, Wu Meng felt her “cultivation” had reached a higher level, that she was going to "become a Buddha and an immortal," and that she was getting closer to the “consummation” promised by "Master" Li Hongzhi. All these feelings resulted from her conditions getting worse and worse for refusing medical treatment after practicing Falun Gong. Li Linfang told her, "You have so many red dots on your body, I'm afraid you're going to have a lesion, go have a check-up.”
But Wu Meng said, “Practitioners never take injections or medicines; we are returning our ‘karma’ and letting the disease get better on its own."
In 1997, Wu Meng bought a second tape recorder and, despite her husband and son's objections, played the Falun Gong recordings at home every day.
In July 1999, Falun Gong was outlawed by the government. However, rather than waking up to her errors, Wu Meng, who had by now become obsessed with Falun Gong to the point of madness, conspired with her "leader" Sister Zhang to gather Falun Gong members to make trouble in Beijing. What’s more, Wu Meng gave all the money she had saved behind her husband’s back to the Falun Gong cult organization, as it had no money to pay for the trip to Beijing.
Soon after Wu Meng and other Falun Gong followers came to Beijing, they were sent back home by the public security organs because of reports from the masses. When she was back at home, her husband said to her angrily, "Our family is going to be destroyed by Falun Gong!" He begged her earnestly not to practice Falun Gong any more, telling her that Falun Gong was an evil cult.
However, Wu Meng didn’t listen to her husband's words at all. Instead, she sold all the family possessions and dedicated the money to the Falun Gong cult organization. Then, she secretly went to Chongqing, Chengdu, Yibin, and other places to carry out Falun Gong propaganda activities. In desperation, her husband demanded a divorce from her, which led to the breakdown of their once happy and warm family.
The breakdown of the family made Wu Meng free of “burden" and more dedicated to her cultivation. Wu Meng felt that she got closer to "Master" and that the splendid vision of “Dafa” was increasingly displayed before her eyes. Thus, she became more and more reckless in posting slogans and leaflets everywhere; and gradually she fell into a trance, feeling that she was about to reach "consummation."
On July 25, 2013, under the influence of Falun Gong’s heretical fallacies, Wu Meng climbed up to a window of the fifth floor of the Luzhou Medical College Affiliated Hospital building and jumped to her death with the fantasy that she was going to "ascend in broad daylight" and "reach consummation as a god.”
Li Linfang witnessed Wu Meng's fall from the building, which she couldn't forget for a long time. When recalling her sister-friend Wu Meng, she said: “I’d like to advise my family members and friends to believe in science rather than follow Falun Gong. As for me, I only believe in science!"
