A sick woman met a "miracle-working doctor" and strayed into an evil cult

Mrs. Wei, 47 years old, is from Ziba Village, Ronghua Township, Debao County. In 1998, when she was in the prime of her youth, she got ill from time to time and felt dizzy. In the process of seeking medical treatment, she came across a so-called mysterious "folk doctor," who called himself a "miracle-working doctor." The “doctor” told his patients not to take any injections or medication, saying that they could get rid of their illnesses by practicing a magical exercise called Falun Gong. To get rid of her illness, Mrs. Wei participated in a muddle-headed way in some activities the "miracle-working doctor" under his influence.

From then on, Mrs. We got addicted to Falun Gong and couldn’t extricate herself from it. She practiced gong three times a day, and before going to bed every night, she even knelt to pray in front of the bed, hoping her illness would be gone when she woke up the next morning. Even though she did as she was told to do, her condition didn’t get any better. Gradually, she became thinner and thinner, unable to do farm work anymore. Her husband had to care for her at home, which prevented him from going to work away from home. As a result, their family life got into trouble.

The further Mrs. Wei walked on the path of the evil cult, the more exhausted and impoverished she got. Doubts occurred more than once in her mind about the heretical fallacies of Falun Gong, but when she shared her doubts with her fellow practitioners, she was immediately criticized and intimidated by them. Consequently, Mrs. Wei, whose mind was deeply poisoned by the evil cult, lived in disappointment, doubt, and fear all day long. Step by step, she was thrown by the evil cult into a purgatory, living in poverty with a sick body and an absent mind.

She embarked on the road to prosperity after quitting the evil cult

After being persuaded and educated repeatedly, Mrs. Wei finally came to her senses and break away from Falun Gong. She no longer believed in the heretical fallacies of the evil cult, but believed in science and actively sought medical treatment for her illness. Through careful treatment by doctors at a regular hospital, she soon recovered from her illness. Later, Mrs. Wei and her husband went to work in Guangdong away from home, as most young adults in rural areas did at that time.

While working in Guangdong, the couple earned 50,000 yuan a year. By the end of 2015, their family income far exceeded the per-capita income poverty line, successfully lifting them out of poverty. They became one of the first households to get rid of poverty. After that, the local government kept track of the couple’s situation to ensure their access to all the benefits they were entitled to. In 2018, Mrs. Wei went out again to work away from home, while Mrs. Wei stayed at home to take care of her children while growing high-quality fragrant rice and developing the mulberry silkworm industry.

Mrs. Wei worked very hard. She planted five mu of high-quality fragrant rice and sold them in the market. Thanks to the government’s policies to support developing mulberry silkworm industry, the area of the mulberry seedlings grown by her family reached 10 mu. The annual income from planting mulberry and raising silkworms totaled nearly 15,000 yuan. This income, combined with her husband's earnings from working away from home, made their life get better and better every year.

Home appliances, vehicles, and modern production tools are all available in the house. One of Wei’s three children is studying as an undergraduate while two others are receiving compulsory education. Although the burden is somewhat heavy for her, she said she had the support from relevant national education support policies and that her children studied very hard, so she had great confidence, determination, and ability to support her three children to finish their school education and become people useful to society in the future.
