An American couple have recently opened an inn in a small village in Kangding County in Sichuan province which showcases the tradition of Tibetan people. Kangding county is well known for a Love Song that tells a love story about Tibetan Kamba youths.
"Xinhuanet" reported Tuesday that the inn owners are a couple in their 30s from Oregon in the United States who are living there with their two year old daughter. The couple, fans of Tibetan culture, opened the inn in order to arouse more interest in the fascinating town.
They said they are happy with the great changes that have taken place in Kangding in recent years. The time needed for the drive from Chengdu to kangding has been trimmed from 14 hours to just seven. Another convenience is that travellers can now pay with credit card, an improvement on the cash-only era.
The American couple first travelled to the town of the Love Song in 2003 when they studied Tibetan language in the Southwest University for Nationalities in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. Their plan for a Tibetan style inn was initiated in 2007, with the business license issued at the end of 2008.
The inn underwent trial operation in early 2009.
