China's NBA star Yao Ming appeared at Houston Rockets Toyota Center on Tuesday for his first public training session since undergoing a complex foot surgery in July 2009, Sina.com.cn reports.
The giant Yao completed an intensive physical exercise routine and then worked on post moves with his teammates. Team doctor Tom Clanton confirmed that Yao's left foot is fully healed and the injury would not affect his basketball career.
Yao is expected to appear in the Rockets' 2010-11 kickoff game, but the general manager Daryl Morey told the reporter that he would limit Yao's minutes early in this season, with a maximum of 30 minutes per game.
Yao, who is looking forward to returning to the court soon, has concentrated his energy mainly on re-building his figure and stamina during the past few months. He has lost 40 pounds and aims to lose 10-15 more.
The rehabilitation process seems to have gone well for Yao. He will participate in Rockets' preseason training camp in China in mid-October. The rockets will play games against New Jersey in China's capital of Beijing and southeast city of Guangzhou.
