A 22-year-old man, Isaac Adam, who resides at Zone 5, Dutse Alhaji, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, after he was discovered on August 25, as a member of a secret cult who had also initiated several teenagers into the occult group.
Mother of one of the victims, Mrs. Victoria Sunday, explained at the Dutse Police Station how her son came back home one evening with a fresh cut on his head and chest. This caused her to shiver as her 15 years old son, Jacob Sunday explained how he got the mark during an initiation rite.
It was discovered that five other teenagers which include Dikko Goodluck 17, Jacob Emmanuel 15, Abdulmalik Bello 15, Ibrahim Yusuf 19 and Courage Ogar 15 were all victims of the “Born Bagger” secret cult initiation and were unjustly brutalized.
The victims also told the court how they were lured and flogged repeatedly on their buttocks during the initiation. The victims were also made to pay the sum of N150.00 while they were also made to agree to pay N1,000 as contribution to the fraternity after the initiation was carried out to signify that they were true members.
The culprit was also apprehended with two other accomplices, Christopher and Jokotu who served as his recruitment agents.
Dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, chains, packs of candles, a bottle of squad 5 hot drink and “gwaska” charms were recover at the resident of the culprit during the police investigation which has landed them in a six months imprisonment.
