Li Youlin, 47, a farmer of Chengren Village, Anshu Town, Dongliao County, Jilin Province, hanged himself.
Li's wife Li Jinfen said that her husband had got hold of a book on Falun Gong two years ago, and practiced the exercises every day. He asked her and her son to practice too. On the evening of May 21 this year, Li told his wife that May 22 was his master's birthday and he was going to go and burn incense to him. In the early hours of May 23, he was found hanged, with a picture of Li Hongzhi and seven burning joss sticks on the ground beneath him.
His wife said her husband was killed by Li Hongzhi and Falun Gong. Before practicing Falun Gong her husband had been a fine and perfectly normal person.
