The renovation project of the ancient city proper of Kashi, which has a history of over 2,000 years and occupies an area of about 4.25 square kilometers in the city center, was completed on Nov. 30, 2007 while the Muslim-style architectures and streets have been well-preserved there. Now some 130,000 residents live in refurbished houses with rearranged modern urban infrastructures in the old Kashi city proper.
