The 2010 International Taipei Flora Expo opened on Saturday.
The 14 exhibit halls cover 91 hectares and feature state of the art architecture and exhibits.
The "Pavilion of New Fashion" is the first building constructed entirely from garbage, actually one and a half million recycled PET bottles.
The "Pavilion of Dreams" transforms visitors into beetles as they travel through a virtual world of flowers and run through a sea of clouds. In the pavilion, visitors can observe a 3,500 kg. mechanical flower to see how a flower blooms, as well as view an exhibition of Taiwan's home-grown flowers via 3D interactive screens that do not require special glasses for viewing. Using a radio-frequency identification (RFID) bracelet, visitors have the opportunity to create their own "dream flowers" virtually.
The flora expo will run through April 25.
