Chinese veteran Peng Shuai has conquered new territory in her 10-year career.
The 28-year-old has advanced to the semifinals of the US Open after cruising past Swiss teen Belinda Bencic in straight sets.
Peng Shuai dominated, hammering the rising Swiss star 6-2, 6-1.
"I dream about it. Because everybody was like ask me all week, maybe you have a chance to get quarters, so I was really happy first time quarters. And I went to the semis. Of course is exciting, is surprise, but is not like I feel like I cannot."
Peng Shuai will next meet the winner of the quarter-final between Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki and Italian Sara Errani.
Top seed Serena Williams' run at the tournament has been cast into doubt after she injured her foot in a doubles match with her sister Venus.
It's not yet clear whether the defending champion will be able to cope with the injury when she takes on Italy's Flavia Pennetta later on this morning.
