Repentance on deathbed

2008-04-11 Author:By: Li Jian

On May 27, 2006, Wang Peiran, a woman peasant in Boye County, Hebei Province, left the world reluctantly with repentance at the age of 55.

How did this happen? It came out that Wang was a diabetic obsessed in Falun Gong. Believing in the fallacies that practicing Falun Gong could eliminate karma and thus heal every disease, she refused treatment and missed cure opportunity again and again, resulting in the deterioration of her illness. Wang didn't realize it was too late for her to regret until she was on her deathbed.

Both Wang Peiran and her husband were honest and simple-minded peasants. In the past, they achieved prosperity through industrial work and led a pretty good life. 15 years ago, Wang Peiran had diabetes. The doctor told her that this kind of illness could be effectively controlled gradually if she continued to take medicine positively. In 1998, Wang heard that practicing Falun Gong could heal every disease without taking medicine or injection. She accepted such words as true and began to practice Falun Gong. In the day, she practiced with other people; in the evening, she read the book Zhuan Falun and listened to tapes while sitting cross-legged at home. She just refused to take any medicine or injection since she became obsessed in Falun Gong, with all her heart hoping her practices could "eliminate karma" and heal the illness and praying that Li Hongzhi the "superhuman Buddha" could protect her against misfortunes and diseases.

A long time had passed since her practices. however, her conditions became increasingly worse rather than better as expected. Her lower legs swelled bit by bit and she even felt weak and faint. At that time, Wang had got into the lair of Falun Gong so deeply that she couldn't extricate herself. Seeing this, the whole family was very worried. Her husband, a member of the Chinese Communist Party, once worked in the army, had never lost his temper before her since their marriage decades ago. This time, he not only tore up the book "Zhuan Falun" and smashed up the recorder but also hit her by himself in the anger and regret with her muddleheaded self-hurt. Her son and daughter-in-law persuaded her bitterly, too. All of these efforts, however, failed to bring her back from the obsession. She even thought the reason why she didn't get better as "not being devout enough" or "having not reached the required degree", so she continued to practice Falun Gong without thinking of anything else.

One day in August 2005, a nail on a board pricked Wang's foot. At first, she hid it from other family members who tried to send her to the village clinic after knowing the fact. She just refused to go and said with a smile, "It doesn't matter. To bleed is to eliminate karma." The doctor at the village clinic told her husband that wound of diabetics was easy to be infected so she should receive treatment as soon as possible. Because of no other way out, her family members had to clean her wound with salt water. The evil illness is pitiless. In April 2006, she got increasingly worse with the swelling of her foot spreading to the calf and the whole thigh, her muscles becoming black and the wound festering. She had completely lost self-care ability.

In the coming month, Wang Peiran suffered seriously from the illness lying in bed day and night. She looked forward with eager expectancy that her master Li Hongzhi would help her get rid of the sickness with one of his "law bodies", but every time her hope broke like a bubble. All of her husband, son and daughter-in-law were busy taking care of her. She began to reflect in pain, "What kind of Gong I have practiced? My disease is getting worse and worse. All of my husband and children are suffering from me. An originally good family is on the edge of breaking up." "It's no 'elimination of karma' or 'cultivation', but doing evil!"

Wang said to her family in sad tears driven by the desire for life, "I can't bear it any more. Let's go to hospital." They sent her to the Baoding Municipal Hospital quickly. The doctor told her husband Yang Xiaoshuo regretfully after giving her a comprehensive examination, "If you came here earlier, the illness of your wife would heal. But every thing is too late at this time." Her husband actually couldn't swallow his bad feelings and told her wife the doctor's words. She felt depressed and regretful.
