I am Lu Zhengqi, 37 years old, have master degree and used to be the vice general manager of Chongqing-based Juxian Technology Development Company. I was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment by Chongqing No. 1 Intermediate People's Court on February 19, 2004, for organizing and using evil cult organization to obstruct the implementation of the law by fabricating the incident that Wei Xingyan, a female graduate student in Chongqing University, was raped. I am now in jail serving the sentence.
Recently, I was shocked and upset to learn about the great negative impact caused by my fabrication on the Internet. With a guilty conscience, I think it's my duty to clarify the truth about the incident as the author of the story, the one responsible for the entire thing, and the witness so as to expose the lies told by Falun Gong organization. This is the only way to reduce my sense of guilt and to be fair to the individuals and units being affected by the incident.
It happened between January to February 2003 when I joined Chongqing Juxian Technology Development Company and took the post of vice general manager. Then Chen Shuming, a manager at the company, kept telling me things about Falun Gong and I soon found out that all the top executives and some working at business departments at the company were practitioners. I felt it disgusting about the theories advocated by Falun Gong at that time, for I didn't believe in those heretical ideas and knew Falun Gong was a cult from TV programs.
One day in April 2003, Chen Shuming had a talk with me and said if I planned to stay with this company I must become a "disciple of Dafa" and make contributions to Falun Gong. I knew what he really meant was that I would be forced to leave the company if I didn't follow his words.
In late May 2003, in order to keep my job and to make a living, I decided to get the trust of Chen Shuming and fabricated a story to him about the so-called persecution on Falun Gong practitioner Wei Xingyan.
The main content of the story I made up is: the police authority in Shapingba District of Chongqing City arrested several practitioners and one of them was Wei Xingyan, a female graduate student majoring in high-voltage power supply and transmission in Chongqing University. She was detained at a detention house in Shapingba District and was raped by a guard there after several female prisoners stripped off her clothes. Wei Xingyan made a protest by refusing to eat but the policemen forced a food pipe into her stomach and damaged her esophagus. She was rushed to the emergency room of Southwest Hospital on May 22.
Chen Shuming put down the fake news with a note and passed it to Yuan Jiaoyan, He Mingli, Liu Fanqin, and Li Jian, who sent it to Minghui Online, an oversea Falun Gong website, for publishing after making some revisions and editing.
In early June 2003, I learned that my story about Wei Xingyan had been spread all over the online community and, to make lies appear more real, I told more lies by fabricating the personal and family information about Wei Xingyan and sent it to Minghui Online with the help of Chen Shuming and other practitioners.
Falun Gong organization took advantage of the fake news and attacked Chinese government, which caused bad influence in foreign countries. I then realized the serious nature of the incident and turned myself in to the police authority on September 5, 2003.
I want to clarify several things here. Firstly, I named the female graduate student of my story Wei Xingyan but she actually lives in Guizhou Province and was a young lady I met at a KTV in Zunyi City when I was on business trip there. She worked at that KTV and was merely a graduate of primary school. She was no college graduate student and I just borrowed her name for convenience. Secondly, the final version published online was different from my original version, for Chen Shuming and other practitioners made revisions and editing to the story during the process. Thirdly, I made up the whole thing and it's certainly not true, I fabricated all the details by myself.
After I did this, during past 2,000 days and nights, I have experienced loss, confusion, and hesitation, but then I woke up and decided to face what I have done and the consequences; during this process, what remains the same is regret and guilt. Back then, I put on such a farce and caused such a big influence and damage to the country, the people, and the society. I destroyed my future with my own hands and ended up with a broken marriage and family.
