Editor’s Note: Bi Daihong, one of the Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was obsessed with the heretical idea of Karma elimination and totally rejecting medical help, and died of uterus cancer at a young age of 37. Astoundingly, after Bi Daihong’s death, her husband Wang Chenyang and other fellow practitioners including Zhao Xue surrounded her copse, holding the book Zhuan Falun in hands and sending forth “Gong powers” for ten days to pray Master Li Hongzhi to make Bi Daihong come back to life.
Bi Daihong, female, born in May 1968, lived in Quanyong Street, Shahekou District, Dalian City. She worked as a teacher in Wanli Primary School of Dalian Economic and Technical Development Zone after graduation from university in 1992.
Bi Daihong, a young and beautiful woman
In August 1995, Bi Daihong married Zhang Gexuan who worked in a venture of foreign investment in the Economic and Technical Development Zone of Dalian. Since their marriage, the couple lived a domestic harmony with each other. For the convenience of their work, the couple rented a house in the development Zone and planned to buy their own house nearby their work place through hard work.
Now that Zhan Gexuan was a man who was eager to outdo others, he worked diligently to achieve their goals, and was soon promoted as the assistant to the general manager. As a result, he got higher salary and became busier and busier, often leaving Bi Daihong alone at home. Considerate as he was, Zhang Gexuan advised Bi Daihong to do exercise and make some friends in the park or along the seashore, in case of her feeling lonely.
In the summer of 1997, when taking a walk in the park after work, Bi Daihong found some people practicing Falun Gong and stopped to have a look. In the following days, she repeatedly went to the park watching their performance. At the same time, her frequent appearance attracted the organizer’s attention at the cultivation spot. The organizer was called Zhao Xue who then had a conversation with her. Thus, Zhao Xue understood her loneliness, and initiatively invited her to practice Gong together, claiming that practicing Falun Gong could release her from all the troubles. From then on, Bi Daihong became a Falun Gong practitioner.
As the time went by, Bi Daihong turned herself a Falun Gong freshman into an obsessed practitioner. Every morning, she practiced Gong as soon as getting up and continued the cultivation during the noon break and after work in the evening, spending all the spare time exercising Falun Gong. What’s more, for the purpose of better practicing, she bought books of Falun Gong and Hong Yin for constant reading, reciting and writing what she had learnt. Increasingly occupied with her cultivation, Bi Daihong worked not as tentatively as before and cared lesser about the family, regardless of her husband’s job and their planning to buy a house. What she focused on was cultivation! When Zhang Gexuan noticed the change of his wife, he advised her strongly to quit Falun Gong, but she turned him down flatly, despite his patient words.
In the spring of 1999, Bi Daihong got pregnant. Zhang Gexuan implored her to pay much attention to their future baby, and advised her not to cultivate Falun Gong any more. But his words fell into deaf ears. On the contrary, she bought VCDs and recorder to listen to Li Hongzhi’s lectures repeatedly and wrote down her understanding of how “advanced to a higher level”. Whenever an idea of “Enlightenment in the Fa” struck her, she would go out and exchange views with fellow practitioners in all weathers, trying to improve her own f mindset. Actually, Zhang Gexuan couldn't put up with Bi Daihong’s behaviour and issued her an ultimatum: “For the sake of our baby, you must make a choice between Falun Gong and me.” Nevertheless, she answered confirmedly: “We can divorce, but I can’t live without Falun Gong.”
So Bi Daihong went back to her parents’ home alone before the May Day in 1999. Her father Bi Xuanlin, a teacher in middle school, and her mother Du Qiaoyun were so surprised at her coming back that they asked her why she got home alone. Bi Daihong answered that she divorced her husband. In a hurry, Du Qiaoyun telephoned her son-in-law for the reason. Zhang Gexuan confirmed that the divorce was true, for Bi Daihong was so obsessed with Falun Gong that she had completely quit their family. Then Du Qiaoyun asked her daughter why she did that, and Bi Daihong replied that she would give up anything to “get into the highest level” in pursuit of Consummation. Hence, Bi Daihong settled down at her parents’ home and focused daily life on exercising Falun Gong.
In July 1997, the Government officially banned Falun Gong according to Law. After learning the news, Bi Daihong was so discontent that she turned a deaf ear to parents’ words and participated in three days’ continuous illegal gathering at the local government in the name of “safeguarding the Fa” despite of her pregnancy, creating social unrests. Subsequently, she went to Beijing with other Falun Gong practitioners to “safeguard the Fa”. In October, she gave the birth to her son and named him Bi Hong (renamed Wang Hong later). Her parents thought the baby boy could tie Bi Daihong down at home, but unexpectedly, Bi Daihong went to Beijing again to “promote the Fa” while her son was less than one month old. After coming back from Beijing, Bi Daihong did not devote all her attention to the baby but continued to go out for “truth-clarifying”, leaving the baby to her parents. So her mother could not help but retiring from work ahead of the schedule to take care of the grandson.
Since Bi Daihong had been absent from work over a long period of time, she was fired by the school before long. After the unemployment, Bi Daihong,Zhao Xue and other key elements of Falun Gong held Fa Conferences to organize practitioners to share cultivation experiences and buy devices to print handouts for distribution everywhere. In May 2003, Bi Daihong returned from “truth-clarification”, taking a man and a little girl home. The man named Wang Chenyang, born in 1971, who was from Hunan Province. He got divorced for cultivating Falun Gong and the 4-year old girl was his daughter. Following the same path together, Wang Chengyang had married Bi Daihong during the “truth-clarification”. Facing Bi Daihong’s obstinate attitudes towards marriage, her parents had to accept the man at last.
On seeing the difficult life led by the newly married couple who did not have a house, Bi Daihong’s parents had to let the new family to live with them. In order to help them overcome the difficulties and support the family, Bi Daihong’s father established a private education class for them to recruit some pupils and middle school students, so that they could collect some money for a living. However, taking no consideration of the parents’ painstaking, the couple called in some Falun Gong practitioners, and put them on major posts of the class. They not only used the training class for their illegal gathering, but also actively propagandized Falun Gong to pupils and students attending lecture. More outrageously, Bi Daihong and Wang Chengyang even taught the two underage children to exercise Falun Gong. Under parental guidance, the two children practiced themselves and at the same time, childishly asked their neighbours to join in.
In the winter of 2004, Du Qiaoyun found Bi Daihong become thinner and thinner with sickly appearance, asked: “Did you feel uncomfortable?” Bi Daihong answered that she had got collywobbles for half a year and bled frequently with irregular periods. Alarmed, Du Qiaoyun took Bi Daihong to the hospital for physical examination, and the diagnosis showed Bi Daihong got uterus cancer.
Du told Wang Chengyang about Bi Daihong’s disease, and advised him to send Bi Daihong to hospital for medical treatment. At that time, Bi Daihong was willing to seek treatment in the hospital, but Wang Chengyang was dead set against her idea. He claimed that Bi Daihong had karma and only practicing Falun Gong hard could eliminate it. Wang Dacheng also said that if Bi Daihong failed to follow the Master’s teachings, her previous cultivation would be in vain and she couldn’t reach the Consummation. Instigated by Wang Chengyang, Bi Daihong finally gave up the idea of going to hospital for medical treatment. Bearing with the bitterness, she persisted in the cultivation so that she could “obtain the Fa” as soon as possible and reached a very high dimensions which the common people never realized. To cure her disease through Falun Gong, Bi Daihong spent more strength on the cultivation and turned a deaf ear to her parent’s words.
In March 2005, Bi Daihong and Wang Chengyang moved out of parent’s home with the two children to break away from parents’ disturbing their practicing Falun Gong. Until mid September in 2005, Bi Xuanlin and Du Qiaoyun found Bi Daihong’s new home with great efforts. Little Wan Hong told grandmother: “One day, my mother suddenly dropped onto the ground unconsciously from bed while exercising Falun Gong. No matter how we tried to wake her, she was still losing consciousness and my father took her to a friend’s home.” “The other day, father led me to visit mother. Mother just kept lying as she was sleeping. I wanted to give mother a kiss, but she was smelly.” On hearing little Wang Hong’s words, the old couple felt there must be something wrong. So they hurried to the Hua Shang Vienna Village with little Wang Hong’s guidance. On entering the door, Du Qiaoyun was caught with stinking smell head-on. At that moment, Wang Chengyang and Zhao Xue led five Falun Gong practitioners surrounding Bi Daihong and holding Falun Gong in their hands, gabbling something unknown. In fact, Bi Daihong had been dead for several days. Shocked by the ghostly scene, Du Qiaoyun suddenly lost consciousness and was sent to hospital by her husband.
The investigation revealed, Wang Chengyang and Zhao Xue didn't believe Bi Daihong had been dead, so they led fellow practitioners to send forth “Gong powers” to Bi Daihong, earnestly hoping that Master could make her come back to life. They kept sending the “Gong powers” and begging the Master for ten days until Bi Daihong’s corpse became rotten and stinking. But their Master still didn’t show any magic powers.
A neighbour named Zhang Guifang joined the funeral and said that Bi Daihong’s body had been deformed and emitted stinking smell. Zhang Guifang told the writer: “How awful is Falun Gong! It even makes the dead not rest in peace!”
