It was in early 1998 when Zhan Xueqiong learned about Falun Gong for the first time from Zhu Zhanmei, a returned migrant worker. At that time, Zhan Xueqiong, her husband and their daughter and son were living an ordinary but happy life.
Zhu Zhanmei secretly told Zhan Xueqiong that practicing Falun Gong was able to cure any disease without taking medicines or injection. In addition, Falun Gong was able to eliminate karma, added Zhu Zhanmei. Zhan Xueqiong was attracted by these words since she had been suffering from hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. So she joined to practice Falun Gong soon.
Zhan Xueqiong was praised as talented and quick to learn by Falun Gong practitioners including Zhu Zhanmei, Leng Zhengquan, Zhu Qiyu, Wang Weiju and Li Anbi. Zhan was born in Liangping County, Chongqing Municipality in November 1959. She had received little education.
A few months later, Zhan Xueqiong was appointed as a tutor in local practice group. She regarded the appointment as her master’s trust. So she positively persuaded her relatives and friends to practice Falun Gong in the following year. She also came to urban districts such as Jiulongpo District to exchange her practice experience with other practitioners.
In July 1999, Falun Gong was banned by government. Her husband and their children advised her to give up Falun Gong, but Zhan Xueqiong rejected their advice. She cursed them as devils bothering her cultivation. Since then, she cut off communications with her family members. She turned deaf ears to whatever they said, and kept on practice at home.
Since the end of 2006, Zhan Xueqiong often felt headache, dizzy, and sick. For a long time, she believed firmly that her master was powerful and that she was able to eliminate karma, to get rid of pains as long as she kept on practice. She also believed that she was always under the protection of the law body of her master Li Hongzhi. Therefore, she did not take any injection or medicine, and did not go to hospital for a medical check either.
In January 2008, when Zhan Xueqiong sat in meditation with Zhu Zhanmei, Zhu Qiyu and Wang Weiju, she suddenly felt dizzy. She attributed it to her distraction. But when she sat in meditation at home, her dizziness went from bad to worse, and at last she fainted.
When she regained consciousness, she found that she was in a hospital and her husband was talking with a doctor.
Her husband told her, "You have been in coma for three days. You fainted due to cerebral hemorrhage. Your body was icy-cold cold when I saw you. I immediately sent you to a clinic in our town. And from the clinic you were referred to here (a county-level hospital). Doctors said you are fortunate to be sent here in time. If you were sent here half an hour later, you would have died."
Although Zhan Xueqiong had a narrow escape this time, she was still liable to a relapse due to the lack of treatment over her hypertension and cardiovascular diseases for a long period of time and the sudden attack of cerebral hemorrhage. Her husband and children, however, did not give her the cold shoulder. They took care of her, advised her to take medicines on time and go to hospital for medical check.
After one year of rest and treatment, Zhan Xueqiong regained both physical and mental health. Recalling the mistakes she had made, she could not help asking, "Why Falun Dafa failed to protect such a pious practitioner as me? Where is the master’s law body when I was in a critical condition?"
