Liu Yunfang, participant of the self-immolation incident, said, ‘I knew Falun Gong by chance in February 1995. Then, I was addicted to it.’
Xu Hongjun, participant of the self-immolation incident, said, ‘I knew all the 7 disciples taking part in the immolation. I had been practicing Falun Gong since 1994. I gave up my decent job for practicing and read 500 times of Zhuan Falun. Was I not a Falun Gong disciple? Was I not a progressive practitioner of the Da Fa? Falun Gong group is lying and Heaven will not tolerate Li Hongzhi for being irresponsible.’
Wang Jindong, participant of the self-immolation incident, said, ‘One day in October, 1996, my friend Xu Hongjun sent me a book called Zhuan Falun. He told me to practice according to the book in order to be enlightened and produce the right result. I read the book at one breath and even my wife and my daughter read it.’
Hao Huijun, mother of Chen Guo who was the participant of the self-immolation incident, said, ‘I had been practicing Falun Gong since 1996. I was a music teacher of Kaifeng Muslim School. All my colleagues, friends and people around me could prove that I was a Falun Gong practitioner.’
It was Liu Yunfang that arranged us to burn ourselves collectively.
In the summer of 2000, Liu Yunfang had a dream that ‘self-immolation at Tian’an Men Square can make her immortal’. Liu Yunfang said, ‘At that time, I did realize that it was the Master Li Hongzhi who enlightened me to go to Tian’an Men Square and burn myself. He wanted me to use my action to prove the Da Fa was real.’ Liu Yunfang then told Xue Hongjun her dream and began to arrange the whole affair.
Xue Hongjun admitted in person that, ‘Influenced by Li Hongzhi’s absurd deception, I took part in organizing and arranging the Tian’an Men Square self-immolation incident on the 23rd of January, 2001.’
Wang Jindong said, ‘At that times, Liu Yunfang was recognized as the people who held the most comprehensive understanding of Falun Gong in Kaifeng. She mentioned several times that she practiced as if she already immolated herself at the Tian’an Men Square. Therefore, I felt it was the time for me to stand out and put all the things behind, even my life, to protect Da Fa. One day in October, 2000, I made up my mind to go to Tian’an Men Square and burn myself to protect Da Fa. I told my decision to Liu Yunfang.’
Hao Huijun said, ‘Liu Yunfang, Wang Jindong and Xue Hongjun fermented the affair together. We all recognized Liu Yunfang as a great disciple who realized the highest realm was to immolate. Persuaded by Xue Hongjun, I also decided to take part in the affair. Liu Chunling, Liu Siying and her daughter then participated.’
After Li Hongzhi published the scripture, The Way to Consummation, on 10th of January, 2001, Wang Jindong, Hao Huijun and Liu Yunfang discussed with each other and talked about the fairytale of the New Year’s Eve. Liu Yunfang was so excited that she immediately decided the date of the affair which was on the last day of lunar calendar (23rd of January, 2001).
Liu Yunfang said, ‘On the 16th of January, Wang Jindong, Hao Huijun, Liu Baorong, Liu Chunling, Liu Siying and I got on the train No. 1488 to Beijing. We met Chen Guo when arrived on the second day. In the morning of 22nd, Jan, Wang Jindong and I went to the grocery store and bought four 10L plastic bottles and a piece of plastic pipe. We rent a car then and went to the gas station to buy 4 bottles of gasoline.’
Wang Jindong said, “In August, 2000, we saw the scripture, Giving Up the Last Persistence, wrote by Li Hongzhi on Minghui Website, saying that ‘ it is time to give up the last persistence, give up the persistence that ordinary people have, including the pursuit of life’. My understanding of sacrificing life to the Master and Da Fa improved to an even higher level. One day in October, 2000, I finally made up my mind to immolate myself to protect Da Fa.”
Liu Baorong, who attempted immolate himself, was a worker of Kaifeng Yarn-dyed Fabric Factory. He left the factory because of working injury in 1984. He began practicing Falun Gong from October, 1995. Liu Baorong approved that ‘all of the immolators knew the purpose before they came to Beijing from Kaifeng. They all understood and prepared to set themselves on fire to get to the Heaven while they were in Kaifeng.’
Liu Siying said in an interview after burnt, ‘We were going to the Heaven where there is gold everywhere, even the way to Heaven is paved by gold.’ Her mother Liu Chunling who died in the fire told her.
Liu Yunfang recalled the scene that “Hao Huijun, Chen Guo Liu Chunling and Liu Siying went downstairs to take a cab and left. Then, Wang Jindong, Liu Baorong and I sit in a taxi and went to Tian’an Men Square. When we walked at the north-west part of Monument to the People’s Heroes, we saw Wang Jindong. He talked something to us but we did not hear clearly. We went straight for 10 more meters, I used razor to cut the plastic bottle, poured the whole bottle of gasoline on my body, threw the razor, and used lighter to set fire. However, the lighter could not strike sparks. I shake the lighter and tried again but stopped by several policemen. I was disappointed, struggled and yelled, ‘Falun Da Fa is the best, truthfulness, kindness and tolerance are the best.’”
Wang Jindong recalled the scene that, “Around 2:30 in the afternoon, I used the prepared razor to cut the gas bottle through my sweater, threw the razor and set fire using the lighter. At that time, the nearby policemen came to me and I pressed the button of the lighter when we were in a 10-step distance. The big fire suddenly swallowed me and I did not have the time to cross both legs and sit so I just sit down. The air whirred because of the big fire. I could not breath but I knew my purpose was about to come true. Suddenly, the policemen used something unknown to stop the fire and I refused twice. After a while, someone used fire extinguisher to spray on me and the fire stopped. I was desperate, stood up and yelled, ‘truthfulness, kindness and tolerance are the laws of the universe which everyone must abide by. The Master is the Buddha of the universe.’”
Hao Huijun recalled the scene that, ‘I only thought of proving Falun Gong and going to Heaven with the Master after consummation. I did not expect such a terrible consequence. When the fire was ignited, I was dreaming of flying to Heaven under sunlight and achieving consummation. When the fire swallowed my ordinary body, I was extremely painful and almost lost my conscious. However, I still believed that practicing Da Fa you must make it to the end and so that the Master would lead to you consummation. Who knows that after the incident, the Master did not even admit we were the disciples of Da Fa.’
It is not hard for people to make right judgments after listening to what the participants’ testimony and what they had been proved. The truth of the fact cannot be fabricated and falsified. The immolators practiced Falun Gong, cheated by Li Hongzhi’s absurd deception, sacrificed themselves to achieve consummation and paid huge price including their lives eventually. It is Falun Gong cult group that swallowed the practitioners’ soul and body. People should learn a lesson from the incident.
