In 1979, I was demobilized and went back home. Because I was a medical corpsman when I was in the troop, I became a country doctor after self-taught examination from a barefoot doctor. I insist the principles of saving lives, serving society and easing pain for the patients.

In 1998, I did not feel very well and examined at the hospital. Unexpectedly, I was diagnosed with ischemic heart disease along with myocardial infarction symptoms and hospitalized immediately. After discharged from hospital, the doctor said, ‘it was fortunate to find out your disease in time and it did not went very bad. Otherwise, you had to take stent or bypass surgery instead of taking medicine. As a doctor yourself, you are too careless, cannot you feel uncomfortable, can you?’ I was afraid after discharged from hospital when I thought about the stent or bypass surgery.

I heard about Falun Gong from other people when I took the treatment one day. They said how wonderful Falun Gong was. I was also very curious seeing a lot of people practicing Falun Gong at the country square. I went to the square that night to see what happened. Things got wild after that. I bought Zhuan Falun and learned over and over again. I realized from the book that it was the karma in my previous life that made me suffer a lot of pain in this life. As long as eliminating karma and paid all the debt could I be treated from the disease. After that, I stopped taking medicine and closed my clinic for not ‘hurting’ other people because I gave them injection and medicine only for delaying their diseases instead of treating.

Later, I heard one of the practitioners was diagnosed with climacteric high blood pressure so that I persuaded her to stop the medicine that she had been taking for a very long time. I thought that we were all the disciples of Da Fa so the Master would ‘cleanse’ our bodies. The Master said, ‘If you could not let the disease go, we could do nothing for you.’ This practitioner was very ‘progressive’, did not listen to her family and stopped the medicine. Half year later, she had fundus hemorrhage because of arteriosclerosis and lost her sight. The whole village was shocked. Falun Gong could cure disease and why she lost her sight? I thought that ordinary people could not understand because she had too much karma and needed to suffer more to eliminate karma and find the way to achieve consummation.

In 1999, Falun Gong was banned by the Chinese government. I felt so unfair and wanted to go to Beijing to ‘protect Da Fa’. Under family’s persuasion, I could not go and I was very said, thinking that other people all went to Beijing but I had never been there. How could I achieve ‘consummation’? In order to go to Beijing and achieve ‘consummation’, besides practicing Falun Gong every day, I was thinking how I could get rid of my family’s ‘surveillance’ to go to Beijing . In 1998, because of shutting down the clinic and being obsessing with practicing Falun Gong, my family and I were in a bad relationship. When they heard that I was going to Beijing to ‘protect Da Fa’, they even broke up with me. My wife even said, ‘If you dare go to Beijing , I would divorce you!’ My son also persuaded me but I could hear nothing. I was Falun Gong disciple and ordinary people could not understand the greatness of ‘Da Fa’. I could not be delayed by them and I thought that they would understand one day that the whole family would benefit from me.

When my family members went to the field, I decided to leave and go to Beijing . I was afraid that others would see me so I was very rush and nervous. When I crossed the road, I was accidentally hit by a car and went into a coma immediately. When I woke up, I was on the bed of No. 148 hospital and diagnosed with bone fracture, spleen and lung damage. My wife cried and scolded, ‘Why are you not dead? Aren’t you going to Beijing to achieve consummation? You wish to go to Beijing so I will send you there even if you are dead!’ My son also cried, ‘Falun Gong made my family fall apart!’

Seeing what happened in front of me and listening to what my family cried, I was rethinking continuously. If I were a ‘Da Fa disciple’ as what the Master said, I should have been protected by the ‘Dharmakaya’ all the time. Why did it not protect me? I should have been dead if the doctors did not save me and treat me. If my whole family could benefit from my practice, why did they oppose to me and felt very sad? I then thought about my practicing partner who lost her sight because of rejecting to take medicine. Her husband went out of town to work so she had to take care of his old parent and her grandson who was in high school. She was the main labor before, but now became the burden of the family. She could not work at the field and take care of her grandson and husband’s parents. Her whole family was ruined. Thinking of that, I was so scared. If I kept obsessing with Falun Gong, I would be the one whose body was unhealthy and family was unhappy. I was addicted to Falun Gong and its deceptive statements. I closed my clinic, abandoned my family, did not care the farm field and thought about treating disease and achieving ‘consummation’ all the time. However, I harmed not only myself but also my family because of practicing Falun Gong. I was very sad when I realized the truth. I was so angry to myself and confused.

After discharged from hospital, I reopened my clinic and became a doctor again in the Village Health Center . I decided to use all I leant to ease pain for other people, cure my patient from a scientific perspective, set a positive attitude towards myself and become a real doctor who can save people’s lives.
