MISA yogi leader Gregorian Bivolaru, wanted by Interpol, was taken on remand by the Romanian Police in France on Friday, Antena 3 reports. He had false IDs.

He was detained on Friday morning while he was attending the Champerret Rarity Fair in a district in Northern Paris. He has been taken into custody awaiting extradition, according to sources quoted by France Info.

His arrest has come up three years after the Sibiu Court had issued an all-points bulletin on his name.

It seems that Bivolaru has been in France for quite some time. He had previously obtained political asylum in Sweden.

Gregorian Bivolaru, a yoga instructor, founder of MISA, the Movement for the Spiritual Integration in Absolute fled Romania in 2005 after being prosecuted for human trafficking and organized crime. He fled to Sweden, where he filed a request for political asylum, a request granted in 2005. The Romanian Supreme Court sentenced Bivolaru to 6 years in prison in 2013 for sexual acts with a minor.

He changed his name to “Magnus Aurolsson” in 2006 and he has been allegedly teaching yoga classes in several countries since 2010.

At the end if January this year, the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST) rejoining a police officer network from the 28 EU member states launched www.eumostwanted.eu website, with the EUROPOL’s support, which targeted to track down the most-wanted fugitives in Europe. Gregorian Bivolaru, 63 was among the most-wanted fugitives from Romania.

Also reports from romania-insider.com on Feb.27, 2016:

Gregorian Bivolaru was also placed on Europol’s most wanted list, which also includes international terrorists.

Bivolaru started practicing yoga at the age of 17 and soon after he also started teaching yoga. He was sentenced to prison during the communist regime, but a Romanian court ruled in 2012 that he was imprisoned for political reasons.

He founded MISA in early 1990 as a non-profit association, which had a socio-professional, philosophical and educative character, aiming to increase the spiritual level of peoples by spreading the yoga knowledge and practices.

MISA has held yoga classes in 250 cities in Romania and 16 other countries, including Denmark, Sweden, and Germany. MISA is well known for its yoga spirals in Costinesti and Baile Herculane, to which thousands of people used to take part each year.

However, MISA and Bivolaru also became known for some controversial practices, such as urine therapy and pornographic videos.

About Gregorian Bivolaru and his MISA

Weird Vita (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_Bivolaru)

Gregorian Bivolaru, also known as Magnus Aurolsson and nicknamed Grieg, Grig or, by the press, Guru (born 12 March 1952) is a spiritual teacher and the founder of the Movement for Spiritual Integration into the Absolute (MISA). Born in T?rt??e?ti, Ilfov County, (now in D?mbovi?a County), Romania, completed high school in Bucharest and the media sustains that he joined the Bucharest Metro company as a plumber in 1971 even if the enterprise was created in 1975. He began practicing yoga at the age of 17.

Criminal Record (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_Bivolaru)

In 1977, he was framed on the charge of distributing pornographic materials and sentenced to one year in prison, but he did not complete it due to an amnesty granted for all minor convictions by the President of Romania Nicolae Ceau?escu.

On 28 March 2004 Gregorian Bivolaru was detained for “attempt of fraudulent crossing of the border”at Nadlac Customs. He was then taken to Bucharest. The Bucharest Court, had issued an arrest warrant for 29 days on the name of Gregorian Bivolaru, but under another accusation: an alleged sexual relations with a minor.

Another warrant of arrest was issued on 31 May 2004 against Mr. Bivolaru, who flees the country.

In 2005, he was charged with eight counts, including sex with a minor, tax evasion, and illegally crossing the border to escape prosecution.

On 14 June 2013, the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania definitively sentenced Gregorian Bivolaru to 6 years in prison, without suspension, for sexual acts with a minor (17 and 1/2 years old girl.

On 27 February 2016 he was arrested in France.

Spreading Eroticism Teaching (see: http://goo.gl/m9nRgc)

The European-based Movement for Spiritual Integration in Absolute (MISA), a cult that mixes yoga with sex and pornography, is now training nearly 100 young people in yoga and tantric love in Chokolingam Nagar, Tamil Nadu, India. Two leaders of the MISA effort in India, Mihai and Adina Stoian, have starred in porn movies produced by the Copenhagen-based production house Sublime Erotica. MISA, led by Romanian guru Gregorian Bivolaru, is known as Natha in Denmark, Tara in the U.S., and Satya in India. The temporary head of MISA—now that Bivolaru has fled pornography charges and sought asylum in Sweden—explains: “For many, sexuality stems from desire. We want to spread the message that it is a divine integration of masculinity and femininity to attain spirituality.” (Times of India, 6/3/11) [IT 2.2]

Belief and sexualization (see: http://goo.gl/pg7v6k)

It calls itself the “Movement for Spiritual Integration in Absolute” — or MISA — and is reputedly the largest “yoga” movement in Europe, claiming some 40,000 members in more than a dozen countries. But it’s actually a dangerous personality cult whose “supreme spiritual leader,” Gregorian Bivolaru, has been accused of coercing or seducing hundreds of vulnerable women into producing hard-core porn videos, abandoning their spouses, and in some cases, becoming strippers and prostitutes — all in the name of “liberating” the female body and bringing MISA members into intimate communion with the “Divine Goddess.”

On its face, the group might sound like an obvious fraud, even a criminal one. But it has escaped prosecution to date, in part because Bivolaru, who first founded MISA in his native Romania in 1990, was persecuted under communist rule. For years many of his countrymen, including influential members of the Romanian elite, as well as human rights groups like Amnesty International, have treated Bivolaru as a “victim” worth defending. Thousands of Romanians have marched and protested on MISA’s behalf, and after the communist regime fell, and the new authorities still decided to arrest him — this time, on sex crime charges — Bivolaru somehow escaped from prison and wound up in Sweden. There, after what most independent observers consider a sham investigation, the Swedish government granted him political asylum.

The full extent of MISA’s alleged criminal activities may never be known. However, based on testimony from group defectors — first presented on the website, exmisa.org — MISA’s development parallels that of other, more notorious yoga cults. One obvious forerunner is the movement surrounding the Indian mystic Bhagwan Rajneesh (aka “Osho”) that flourished in the late 1980s, just as MISA was getting started. Bivolaru, like Rajneesh, has claimed a special channel to the Divine Source that endows him with God-like powers, including the ability to channel spiritual energy and telepathic insights to his followers via mass gatherings and virtual “hook ups” that appear intended to induce MISA followers to surrender their will and identity — and in some cases, their life savings — to their beloved “guru.”

In the early days of MISA, according to charges filed with Romanian prosecutors, Bivolaru and his chief lieutenants were known to engage in sex with underage girls, some in their early teens. (In fact, Bivolaru himself took one of those teenage girls as a lover and ersatz spouse, and she still accompanies him). However, as the group expanded to Scandanavia and the UK, and became better known — and more notorious — it appears to have grown more cautious about respecting traditional age limits. Still, MISA’s goal and modus operandi apparently continues to be the recruitment and active sexualization of its female members, both for the personal pleasure of Bivolaru and his inner circle, and even more important, as a means of generating additional large-scale financing for the group, defectors say.

The Scientology Connection (see: http://goo.gl/pg7v6k)

In 2012 they started to invite people from outside the organization. One of those people was Birthe Heldt, the head of Scientology in Denmark, to speak at one of their Conferences on spiritual freedom.

Late in 2013 Scientology PR from France was invited to speak at another conference. You can read about it here, with a grain of salt, because the organization is in league with the cult.

Expelled from Yago Organization (see: https://goo.gl/TmrAv7)

Gregorian Bivolaru was an honorary member of European Yoga Council until April 2008, when he was expelled from it and from all affiliated branches.

Shri Yogacharya Ajita, as President of the European Yoga Council of European Yoga Alliance and Honorary Secretary of the European Federation of Yoga for the European Union, announced the following to the International Yoga Federation : "My official resolution as president of the European Yoga Council of the European Yoga Alliance is that Mihai Stoian, Grieg Bivolaru and all people linked to the MISA/NATHA organization are immediately expelled from our organization and that we stop their membership, because it has been proven that they are not busy with Yoga in whatever form, that they even use Yoga as a cover for illegal practices, that they do not respect the rules and standards of our organization, that they show an unheard lack of moral integrity, and cannot be convinced to change their attitude."
