I am Ma Chaogang and I was born on September 15th 1963. I am a villager in Group 2 Xinrong Village, Zhangzhuangpu Town of Gong’an County in Hubei Province. My wife and I have two daughters. My youngest daughter is Ma Rong, who is beautiful but suffers from mental diseases. Ma Rongs’ health is the major concern for our family. In 1988, a follower of the Society of Disciples, named Wu, who was over 50 years old at that time, came to evangelize and persuaded me to believe in the true God of the “The Society of Disciples”. She said that as long as I believed in the God and prayed, my daughter would be cured without any money being spent. I believed that it was the God's blessing that fell into my lap and began to follow the Society of Disciples.
Wu taught me three short prayers of “main prayer”, “safe prayer” and “prayer for life and food”. After I learnt the prayers by heart, Wu took me to pray. When praying, I closed my eyes, put my hands on my chest, and prayed for about half an hour. Then, Wu asked me whether I saw a light or paranormal phenomenon. I told her honestly, “I saw no paranormal phenomenon.” Wu said exhilaratingly, “You already saw the light. You must be the beloved son of God. As long as you are loyal to God and the Society of Disciples, your daughter will recover.” I did not understand how I could believe in the God and the Society of Disciples at the same time. She told me, “The Society of Disciples is the third reincarnation of God and it is God.”
After that, Wu visited my family and persuaded them into believing in the God. My wife, my daughters and I became the followers of the Society of Disciples. After a period of time, my daughter's condition was just as bad as usual. Then, Wu asked us to pray sincerely more often and for longer periods of time. My family prayed all day. We prayed for life and food at the meal times, measured the weight of food and rice, and summarized. Also, we went to church for gatherings on Sunday and kept Sabbath day. Wu required my daughter to stop taking medicine and us to be loyal to the God, so as to obtain capabilities.
After she stopped taking medicine, my daughter was sometimes sober-minded and sometimes fell ill. When she was sober-minded, the Society of Disciples asked her to make witnesses, saying that believing and praying can make the God happier and us safer.
In 2008, with the so-called “safety”, my daughter married a man in Tongqiao Village. However, a month later, her husband decided to divorce her.
After my daughter returned home, the local members of the Society of Disciples attempted to persuade us to continue believing in the Society of Disciples. They said my daughter had a relapse because of our disloyalty.
For years, we depended on the Society of Disciples and praying became my family’s only concern. We had no sources of income and had fallen into poverty. However, my daughter's condition continued to be aggravated. In July 2015, she succumbed to her mental illness and ran around naked. We found her everywhere and brought her home forcibly. We were depressed and exhausted every time she ran away from home when we did not stay with her.
Learning of our hardship, the village helped send our daughter to hospital for treatment. After receiving treatment and taking medicine according to the advice of the doctor, my daughter’s condition has improved and can lead a normal life. We believed in the Society of Disciples for eighteen years and prayed at least 8,000 times, but my daughter had not recovered. We will no longer believe in the nonsense of the Society of Disciples.
