Japanese woman recounts the tragic experience of participation in the Unification Church

Abstract: Japanese netizen Zao Fang WanHua recounted the tale of her elder sister who was brainwashed by the Unification Church and taken to South Korea to become a serf: my sister was brainwashed by the Japanese Unification Church, and became a serf. I hope all women could take this as a lesson.

In a blog posted on July 29, 2009, Ms. Anonymous told the story of her sister being brainwashed by the Unification Church cult. She was taken to South Korea, where she became a serf:

I will talk about my sister's personal experience as a heartfelt warning to all Japanese women. What I need to say is that the following is all true.

My sister was outgoing and beautiful. She was befriended by South Koreans, and this is the reason why she was taken to South Korea and became a serf. People may wonder "how could such a bad thing happen?" Indeed, thousands of Japanese women, like my sister, have been taken to South Korea by different means beyond people’s imagination. I'm going to talk about the despicable approaches of the Unification Church, and I want all women to heed this warning.

Three years ago my sister said, "I’ve made friends with some South Koreans." It was the beginning of all her bad luck. At that time, my sister was in her third year of college, and while sitting on a bench in the campus, she was accosted by a South Korean student of her grade. They soon became good friends. I met with the South Korean student several times, and when I first met her, I felt that she was polite and impressionable. According to her, she had joined a group that promoted peace.

In retrospect, I should have been alarmed. My sister was persuaded by he new friend to take part in the "Culture Training Class" organized by the group. After watching a video and listening to the lecture, my sister said it was a workshop "researching peace movements". However, its content is "How did the Japanese torture South Koreans?" After watching a long video, the group's speaker added: "Why don’t the Japanese atone for their crime, and deal with South Koreans irresponsibly."

When my sister was in that cultural class, her world view gradually changed. She started saying: "I am ashamed of being Japanese. The Japanese should make an immediate atonement. Japan's prosperity today is based on the sacrifices of South Koreans." So, she dropped out of school and began to learn Korean.

"I want to go to South Korea and apologize to Koreans," she told me. I didn’t think it was necessary for my sister to do this, but I thought it was a good choice to be able to have international communication, so I didn't stop her. One day, my sister said to me, "you have to learn Korean as well, because Korean is like Esperanto, which is the best language in human history." I was surprised to hear that. I secretly checked my sister's room, and I found the book “Divine Principle” and a pamphlet called “The Fallen”, it reads: "Japan is a country ruled by demons. It is the sinner who tortured the world’s leader, South Korea. Japan should pledge allegiance to Adam’s Republic of South Korea. The South Korea who realizes that after the reunification of South and North, Korea will be the ruler of Asia and the world". I consulted a college teacher about this disgusting and resentful content. She told me that they were the doctrines of the Unification Church. After that, I discussed with my parents and planned to urge my sister to quit the group, but it was too late. My sister dropped out of school and determined to go to South Korea, saying: "Those who insulted the father of the savior and the world leader, South Korea, are demons." My parents and I did not know what else could be done and cried bitterly.

My sister suddenly said she was going to attend a collective wedding ceremony in the South Korean’s capital, Seoul. She went there and disappeared.

"Tell me the truth, it’s you who persuaded my sister to join the Unification Church, right?" I confronted the South Korean student who lured my sister to the church. She said, "I don't know what you're talking about." I said: "Wen Xianming is very disgusting". Her face turned red and said angrily: "what did you say?" After that, I was sure that my sister had joined the Unification Church. We began to worry about my sister's fate and cried all the time. Soon, my sister wrote to tell us that she had married into a family in the countryside of South Korea, so we were relieved. Soon, my sister kept writing to us for money and home appliances. From my sister's letters, it seemed that her South Korean husband's "relatives" were asking for these things. For the sake of my sister's safety, we couldn’t help but send what they wanted. In order to know my sister's true life in South Korea, I went there, and for the sake of communication and security, I hired a Japanese Student as the translator and bodyguard.

We followed the address included in my sister's letter to the South Korean countryside. It has developed far slower than Japan's countryside. The road was a dirt road and very bumpy. I found my sister in the village and her husband’s home was very poor.My sister was very happy to see me. She, who was less than 25 years old, was married to a South Korean man in his 40s, and he was an uneducated peasant. Although I felt a little disrespectful, I politely indicated that our family was opposed to the marriage and asked my sister to return to Japan. The translator’s face turned white during the translation. Because the ugly hick said: "I spent money in marrying your sister, and we should live together". He was smiling indecently, and said: "I'm lucky, the figure of this Japanese female is really good, I picked up a bargain."

I was very angry at the time, but I was worried about my sister's safety. I could only swallow my anger. My sister replied: "the Japanese have committed heinous crimes in Korea in the past, and we should make atonement", and my sister also said she worked from morning till night. The translator told me that my sister had to work hard all day, and in the evening she had to let the bumpkin vent his lust, almost as a slave.

I had nothing to do but to go back to Japan. At the airport in Seoul, the translator told me that Japanese women in the Unification Church in Seoul were forced to work from day to night, taking part in anti-Japan demonstrations.

I returned to Japan in lost spirit, and I dared not tell my parents the truth about my sister.

The Unification Church brainwashes Japanese women and makes them have a sense of atonement. They have sold thousands of Japanese women, including my sister, to Korean villages where the demand was high. The Unification Church, the believers, the North Korean federation in Japan, and the daily human rights activists are a group of fraudsters. They always talk about benevolence and morality, but actually engage in the human trafficking. Now, many Japanese women are confused by the doctrines of the Unification Church, fanning the flames of the Unification Church.

The Japanese women who were sold to South Korean farmers have become slaves in a strange place after a collective wedding ceremony. They live in hell, poverty, discrimination and homesickness. On May 24, 2011, the Weekly Post reported that more than 7,000 Japanese women had been cheated and married into rural South Korea. The Unification church also says in South Korea, the  Japanese are an elite force who has a special mission to heaven, and the special mission is dedicated to South Korea. Japanese women who have married into South Korea are living in pain. The Unification Church has told the bachelors in rural South Korea they could have Japanese brides if they believe in the Unification Church. South Korea attaches great importance to education but most farmers have only got a high school education, so it’s hard to find a job. Some Japanese women marry into the South Korea countryside, and their husbands have no jobs and can only live by borrowing money from loan sharks, and they themselves have to work in the towel manufacturing factories to maintain a life.

How do the victims accept the persuasion of the Unification Church and allow themselves to be brainwashed? At first, their family members did not detect the change in the victim, and when they found it, they were brainwashed, and it was hard to persuade them to come back. The Japanese government and mass media did not take effective measures to deal with the persuasion and brainwashing, tracing the whereabouts and situation of the victims after the collective wedding and the backgrounds of those they are married to. They use the following ways to increase the number of followers: swindling innocent young girls, brainwashing, making them feel self-destructive, and selling the girls to South Korea to marry the poor bachelors.
