Yang Meichun, 63 years old, is a retired employee of an agricultural bank in Chengdu. She should have had a happy life in her old age, but the Almighty God kept her from it.

So long as she did not have an accident, she would be happy and wealthy in her old age. But in 2012 she met the cult, Almighty God, and her original plan changed completely.
In October 2012, Yang Chunmei went out for exercise and met her old colleagues. Her colleagues told her that they all believe in Jesus. They said as long as she truly believed in god, she would receive the blessings of god. Not only would she not get sick, but she also would avoid all disasters. Yang Chunmei, who wanted to have good health, thought this was good, so she followed the old colleagues and began to believe in Almighty God. Yang Chunmei's son was out of town and her husband had died in his early years. She lived alone and lived a leisurely life. Due to this, the Almighty God organization asked her to provide a room for their gatherings. Yang Chuanmei agreed without saying anything because she felt lonely living by herself. After that, her home became the meeting place for the cult and some members of the Almighty God came to her home, and some even lived in her house for a long time. Her house became the host home of Almighty God, and Yang Chunmei felt her life was enriched. But there was one thing that made her a bit uncomfortable, the members of the Almighty God never paid for anything.
To placate Yang Chunmei, her "leader" Liu told her that it was their god's arrangement to make her family as the host family, and this was a way for Yang Chunmei to contribute to the god.The god knew about this, and she did not need to worry because she would get more when she contributed more. After "leader" Liu's guidance, Yang gradually felt that she was being reused by her god, and she would be more protected by the god in the future, so she no longer felt that she was losing money.
Yang Chunmei agreed to make her home a “host family.” Slowly, the Almighty God group recognized that she was a retired worker with large deposits in the bank. The "leader" also told Yang Chunmei that doomsday was coming at the end of the year, so if she was sincere to god, god would help her to avoid the disaster.
Yang Chunmei was persuaded by the “leader”. She thought that there was no point saving money since the doomsday was coming. So, Yang Chunmei contributed her 150,000rmb pension money to the "leader" of the Almighty God.
On December 21, 2012, the doomsday passed, but Yang Chunmei did not feel the change of the world. She had some doubts and wanted to go find the “leader”. But the "leader" had left Chengdu. Yang also tried to find some other members of theAlmighty God, but she could not find them. Yan Chunmei was worried. She vaguely felt being deceived, but she thought that god exists, and she wanted to believe in god. However, the “leader” had disappeared, so Yang Chunmei called her son in Nanjing, and her son told her that the Almighty God was a cult, and she had been cheated by them.
Yang didn't know how to end the phone call with her son when she heard his words. Her son was afraid something would happen to his mother, so he asked for leave from work to go back to her, and promptly called the police. However, the "leader" still could not be found and the 150,000rmb was gone. Yang fell ill for a long time, and she did not know what to do but to go to Nanjing to live with her son.
The original happy life in her old age was destroyed by the Almighty God cult.
