（kaiwind.com）Russia's Supreme Court has banned the Aum Shinrikyo cult in the country, Rbth.com reported.
On Sept. 14，Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court demanding to put an official ban on activities of Aum Shinrikyo sect in Russia.

“The court accepted the request of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office to recognize Aum Shinrikyo as a terrorist organization, banning its activity on the territory of Russia,” the judge said.
The court session was held behind the closed doors.
Aum Shinrikyo (Supreme Truth) was set up in 1987 by Chizuo Matsumoto (aka Shoko Asahara). It combined Buddhist and Hindu meditation practices and apocalyptic teachings and was believed to have between 30,000 and 50,000 followers, with more than 10,000 members in Russia, where Aum was engaged in missionary activity and economic enterprise. The sect was banned worldwide in 1995, with Russia leading the crackdown. In March 2016，Montenegro has deported 58 foreign members of a Japanese doomsday cult, most of them Russians. Russia's police force raided the apartments of alleged members of the Japanese cult Aum Shinrikyo in Moscow and St. Petersburg. "During the searches, we found and seized ritual items and electronic media. In addition, we discovered addresses of several more active participants of the cult – 11 in Moscow and 14 in St Petersburg," Irina Volk, a spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Tuesday 5 April.
