Resolution calls on Buddhists to continue condemning Falun Gong

The Buddhist Association of China passed a resolution Wednesday urging the Chinese Buddhist circles to continue condemning the evil Falun Gong cult.

The resolution, coming during the association's seventh national conference, sharply denounces the cult's leader Li Hongzhi for immorally and illogically stealing many key Buddhist terms for his heresy.

This has degraded the sound reputation of Buddhism so seriously that some Buddhists have become reluctant to talk about certain terms that have been shamelessly misrepresented by Li, the resolution says.

One unique Buddhist term, "Falun," meaning the continuously turning wheel of transmigration, has been distorted by Li as his spiritual tool to control innocent people, according to the resolution.

The resolution draws a sharp contrast between Buddhism and Falun Gong, making it clear that the former helps promote social welfare, while the latter, under the coat of Buddhism, aims to subvert social stability and is completely evil.

While calling on the Chinese Buddhist circles to expose and condemn the viciousness of Falun Gong and open the eyes of people deceived by it, the resolution also expresses the hope that Buddhists across the world will work together to prevent Buddhism from being blemished by the cult.
