My name is Jiang Yuqing. I was born on October 8, 1984. I have been working in Shanghai for many years and now live in the Kangbang community of Pudong District. My father is a pastor of a local Christian church back in my hometown of Henan, and my brother, Jiang Yushen, born on May 17, 1981, was a devout Christian who served as a staff worker in the local Christian church. Unexpectedly, my brother became a target of the "Almighty God" cult group and almost fell into the “love trap” devised by the cult group, which had caused great trouble and anxiety for the family. It’s too sad to look back on the experience of my brother.
In 2013, my brother turned 32 years old and still had no girlfriend. Hearing about the situation of my brother, the "Almighty God" cult group in the local area planned to set a “love trap” for my brother to drag my father into the mire of the cult. In this way, they could let my father use his influence as a veteran pastor to recruit a group of followers for the "Almighty God" cult.
On the day before the Mid-Autumn Festival of that year, an unknown woman about 25 or 26 years old with a Nanyang accent and an alluring face came to our house and said to my father, "Pastor Jiang, do you know me? I am also a church sister. Your family loves the Lord so much so I’d like to serve your family, even as a baby sitter." Then, she went up to my mother and offered to give her a neck massage, saying in a low voice: "How I want to be your daughter-in-law!" Such sweet words made a good impression on my brother. A few days later, the woman came to my house while my parents were absent. Utilizing the opportunity of staying alone with my brother, she tried to seduce my brother. I wondered if she had put some drugs in the tea to confuse my brother, as my brother soon went into bed with her muddle-headedly. After that, the woman brought to my brother some " Almighty God" cult books, including "Lightning from the East", "Kingdom Praises", "Almighty God, You Are Good!" and so on. She said to my brother: "If you want me, you have to submit to 'Almighty God'." Seemingly fascinated by her, my brother was unable to resist her temptation, and instead of putting his mind on his church work, he spent all day fooling around with that unknown woman.
The news of the "love affair" between my brother and that woman soon reached the ears of the church brothers and sisters. That unknown woman had already lived with my brother in a rented house outside. At first, the church thought it was just a matter of misbehavior, and asked my father to persuade my brother to quit his contact with that woman. Realizing that his deeds would damage the image of the church, my brother talked with that woman, hoping to stop contact with her. However, the woman immediately threatened him, "You’ve already had sexual relation with me anyway! If you want to kick me out and refuse to accept 'the female Christ', I will discredit you and your father, and the church will not accept you!" She also cursed him, "You bastard! I’m gonna kick you out!" Being unable to resist her threats and inducements, my brother turned his temper to my father. He quarreled with my father, declaring that he wanted to marry that woman. Besides, he threatened to leave home and never return if he wasn’t allowed to marry her. My father, who knew that the woman was an "Almighty God" cult member, strongly disapproved my brother’s marriage with her. My mother was so anxious that she spent all day in tears, as she was not only afraid that my brother might not be able to find a wife in the future, but she was also afraid that my father might get angry and fall ill because of my brother. Due to her extreme anxiety, my mother was attacked by myocardial infarction and sent to the hospital on November 14, 2013. After the emergency rescue, she had her life saved, but she was paralyzed in bed, unable to get up any more.
That unknown woman went even further by spreading the story of her cohabitation with a pastor's son. Besides, she preached the lies made up by the “Almighty God" cult: "The God you believe in is the vague God. Only ‘the female Christ’ who has returned to the 'flesh' is the actual God, and only by believing in the ‘Almighty God’ with a nose and eyes that you see today can you be truly saved." To discredit my father and cause some confusion of faith among the Christian believers, she spread rumors, saying that “Pastor Jiang and his son are both in favor of the viewpoint of the Church of Almighty God." Fortunately, my father was wise enough to repeatedly debunk the rumor and refute the fallacies of the "Almighty God" cult on the pulpit of the church, which had kept him away from a lot of trouble. The Christian church suspended my brother from his duties for adhering to his foolish way without awakening for some time. Finding the situation unfavorable to her, that unknown woman ran away late one night.
With the patient help of the church’s believers, my brother finally came to his senses through quiet prayer and reflection. His spirit was reborn and saved, and he recognized that the unknown woman with such improper behavior was not a true Christian that truly loved him, but a woman with the sinister intention of luring him into working for the "Almighty God" cult. Later, the woman came back quietly to harass my brother, but my brother told her resolutely, "I will not believe in the 'Almighty God' cult, nor will I continue that kind of relationship with you!” Then, my brother reported her to the police immediately and burned all the propaganda materials of the "Almighty God" cult in front of the church believers and fellow workers.
Seeing that it scheme was doomed to failure, the local "Almighty God" cult group retaliated against our family by gathering a gang of thugs to set fire to our house one night. Fortunately, the neighbors found it out early and called the fire police in time, thus avoiding casualties to our family. At the end of December 2013, the public security authorities arrested two arsonists; and by following clues, they captured all the members of the local Almighty God" cult group at their hideout.
When I returned home for the Spring Festival, I found the burned kitchen in our house had been repaired, but I could see some traces of the fire. I still have lingering fear when I think of the unpleasant things in the past few months. We must be vigilant against evil cults, which are very harmful to people!
