At the age of 80 and above, one should have spent his time enjoying family life happily. However, to Li Sanzai, an 80-odd-year-old man, there are only worries and pains in his heart but nothing that could make him happy - all because his youngest son Li Xiaobin has become a follower of the "Almighty God" cult.
Li Sanzai is a resident of Chinan Village, Fenggang Town, Yihuang County, Jiangxi Province. He has three children, including two boys and one girl. As his wife passed away early, he brought up his three children alone. He was quite contented that he had had a harmonious family with three filial children.
Li Xiaobin, Li Sanzai’s youngest son, was originally a bricklayer working together with his neighbors. Being an honest man, Li Xiaobin worked hard and got along well with his fellow workers. Therefore, he was highly praised by the people around him. Besides, Li Xiaobin loved his family very much and took considerate care of his old father as a filial son. Whenever he was at home, he would try to make delicious meals for his father. He often washed his father's bedding and made it dry in the sun so that his father might feel comfortable with One day in 2013, Li Xiaobin, who was working away from home, came back. However, after returning home this time, he never mentioned going out to work again as he usually did, nor did he take care of the household matters or his old father’s life while at home. The biggest difference from the past was that he would sneak out of the house once the night fell, and he would come back quietly in the middle of the night. His unusual behavior made his father Li Sanzai very worried. Later, Li Sanzai heard people around him say that his youngest son had become a follower of the "Almighty God" cult and attended the "Almighty God" cult meetings outside every night.
As a father, Li Sanzai was very anxious about the surprising changes that had occurred in his youngest son Li Xiaobin. He knew he mustn’t let his son go astray, so he tried every means to pull him back to the right path. However, Li Xiaobin didn’t listen to the persuasion of his father, elder sister, and brother-in-law, nor did he follow the kind advice of the folks with whom he once worked. Moreover, he tried to instill the heresies into the mind of his family members and relatives when they were persuading him, as he hoped that they would also believe in the “Almighty God" cult as he did. Being deeply poisoned by the "Almighty God" cult, Li Xiaobin felt he had seen an “illusory light” on the long path to “God.” He believed, superstitiously, that he had been "appreciated by God." Also, he thought, absurdly, that it was a gift from “God” that he had got married. The "Almighty God" cult organization told him that the reason why he could get married when his family was so poor was that he had been "appreciated by God." If he continued to "believe in God," his elder brother would also be "appreciated by God" and be able to get married.
Since Li Xiaobin introduced the “Almighty God” cult into his family, there had been no peace within the family. Under the influence of the heretical fallacies of the evil cult, Li Xiaobin lost affection for his once warm family. He had no sentimental attachment to both his old father who had brought him up with great pains and his wife who had helped him in time of poverty. Since then, Li Xiaobin has never come back again, leaving behind an old father in misery.
When interviewed by a reporter, Li Xiaomei, Li Xiaobin’s sister, said with tears in her eyes: "Xiaobin, our father has grown so old, so please come back home soon! I hope everything is fine with you outside. Please return as early as possible for a happy family reunion!"
