If seeing Cao Yun crying heartbreakingly, even a hard-hearted man would feel pity for her. Her tears were full of despair but unable to wash away her remorse. She was scammed out of 40,000 yuan by the “Almighty God” cult! That was her hard-earned money, which was intended to pay for her husband's life-saving medicine and her family's living.

Cao Yun is an ordinary farmer from Yiyang City, Hunan Province. She lived a mundane existence with a husband and two children, with her family income mainly relying on their 7 mu of farmland covered by contract. Her husband was suffering from asthma due to years of hard work. What’s worse, an accident caused the fracture of the lumbar vertebra of her husband, thus making their family’s life go from bad to worse. Under such circumstances, Cao Yun had to work away from home, making money to support the family.

In 2011, Cao Yun landed a job in a garment factory with the help of her daughter, earning a monthly salary of more than 2,000 yuan. She ate the simplest meals and wore clothes that had been mended for many times, gradually saving some money and found hope in life.

However, just when Cao Yun had a great longing for a bright future, she was targeted by the “Almighty God" cult. In October 2012, a good friend called Ah Lan came to Cao Yun, bringing along a man surnamed Yang and a woman surnamed Li. Only later did Cao Yun learn that the three of them were all the "Almighty God" cult followers and that they tried every means to cotton up to people they targeted and make them drop their guard until their psychological defense lines were all broken.

The man surnamed Yang randomly took out a tablet computer, asking Cao Yun to watch a video he had prepared long ago. The video showed disasters around the world, producing a sense of horror and suffocation. Yang and his companions observed Cao Yun's speech and behavior and lured her into believing in the “Almighty God” cult through clever tricks. Besides, they claimed that the "female Christ" had already come into the world.

In the following week, they came to pester Cao Yun every day. Using the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake as a “testimony,” they cooked up a story that the earthquake victims were all killed for not believing in the "Almighty God" cult and that those who believed in the "Almighty God" cult did not sustain any injuries. According to them, only by believing in God could people escape from disasters, get blessings from God, and be made perfect by God.

Those deluding words made Cao Yun increasingly curious about the "Almighty God" cult. After being deceived deliberately by them and reading relevant books, Cao Yun finally accepted the heretical fallacies of the "Almighty God" cult. Soon afterward, he was taken to a secret meeting of the "Almighty God" cult and given a so-called spiritual name, Huang Yue, by the "God’s family."

Hereafter, Cao Yun no longer concentrated on her work but devoted most of her mind to the "Almighty God” cult. With her soul being firmly controlled by the "Almighty God" cult, she became addicted to the spiritual state of "eating and drinking God’s words." To let more people hear "God's voice to the whole world," she repeatedly attended the illegal gatherings of the “Almighty God” cult at its instigation.

The changes in Cao Yun caused great anxiety among her family members, who advised her many times to get rid of the spiritual bondage of the "Almighty God" cult and return to normal life as soon as possible. However, Cao Yun, who had been completely brainwashed by the fallacies of the "Almighty God" cult, remained unmoved, continuing to run wildly on the wrong path of the evil cult. In her view, those who persuaded her to quit the cult, including her family members, were people who “resisted God." The "Book of God" said those who resisted God would be punished.

At the end of that year, Cao’s husband came to see her and her daughter at the factory they worked. Her husband tried hard to persuade her to get rid of the evil cult, but she refused obstinately to listen to reason. Instead, she uttered abusive words against him from time to time. Cao’s husband once burned her book The Scroll that the Lamb Opened when she went to work. It made Cao Yun so angry that she had a fierce quarrel with her husband after she got home from work. She cursed her husband fiercely, saying that he was a devil resisting God and would be punished by God.

The "Almighty God" cult became more insatiable after Cao Yun got obsessed with it. It launched a deception plan against Cao Yun. At a secret gathering, one of Cao’s “sisters” lured her into “devoting" her money to "God's family." With her mind instilled with nothing but heresies of the "Almighty God" cult, Cao Yun did not hesitate to “devote” 40,000 yuan in his bankbook to the "God's family,” which immediately “rewarded” Cao Yun in all apparent seriousness with a receipt written in crooked handwriting.

Cao was thus scammed out of her hard-earned money by the “Almighty God” cult. However, Cao felt very happy about it at that time because she remembered a sentence from one of the "Almighty God" cult books- Preparing good deeds at the most critical time is the greatest love for God, who will offer the greatest blessing to those who have made contributions.

However, the "Almighty God" cult hadn’t brought Cao Yun any "reward" or "blessings" because of her "love for God." Instead, it continued to deceive her and exploit her for ulterior motives. It was not until she woke up to reality that she realized she had been deceived for a long time. At this time, she could only say, "I feel so bad."
