Study shows Almighty God inflicted heavy damages on families

The fact that 180 people were bewitched by the cult “Almighty God” and then ran away from their homes has caused severe consequences to the society where more than 500 families are impacted and thousands of people are suffering.

Yan Liru                    Cai Liguo

Yan Liru, from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, left home without saying goodbye on December 29, 2012 while his son was still a sixth-grade student. She was convinced that the end of the world was coming and that only by believing in the “Almighty God” cult could she be saved and kept safe. After Ya Liru had left, her husband had to quit his well-paying job as a ship's sailor in a shipping company. He landed a new job as a temporary postman in a postal company not far from home so that he could take care of his son and look for his wife while making a living. More unfortunately, Yan's elder sister, who had drawn Yan into the "Almighty God" cult, jumped to death from the eighth floor of a building in her community at 3 a.m. on March 2, 2015 at the age of 42.

Cai Liguo was a young and beautiful woman from Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. She strayed into the "Almighty God" cult under the influence of her mother. On December 18, 2012, three days before the so-called “end of the world” proclaimed by the "Almighty God" cult, she left the kindergarten where she worked to attend a gathering in compliance with the order of the “Almighty God” cult organization. She feared that the "end of the world" would come and that she and her family would suffer in hell instead of going to heaven. Since Cai Liguo ran away from home, she had never been back despite her four-year-old daughter kept crying for her.

Pang Caimei           Li Kehui

Pang Caimei, a woman from Tangshan, Hebei Province, was roped in to join the “Almighty God” cult in 2007 by one of her former factory colleagues. On the morning of May 27, 2014, the day before the Shandong Zhaoyuan cult murder case, Pang left behind two letters and ran away from home, taking with her nearly 100,000 yuan of her family savings. So far, her whereabouts has been unknown. The 100,000 yuan, including the education fund Pang and her husband deposited for their child going to college, was all the money the couple had saved for many years.

Li Kehui, a 54-year-old woman from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, ran away from home on May 8, 2015 after being brainwashed by the "Almighty God" cult. She brought with her 100,000 yuan of money her family had accumulated for many years and gave all that money to the “Almighty God” cult organization as “contribution money” as others did theirs. Li's departure left her otherwise happy and peaceful family broken up. Her husband got ill while her two young daughters dropped out of school. They all had to depend on the eldest son of the family to maintain a living.

The majority of those who had left home under the influence of the "Almighty God" cult used to be kind-hearted and hard-working people. They went astray into the cult for family and health reasons.

Liu Dingxiang (from Jiaozuo, Henan Province), 64, has been married for decades. Since marriage, Liu, together with her husband, had been taking care of her parents-in-law and elderly grandma. Especially noteworthy is that Liu nursed her bed-ridden mother-in-law all year round, treating her as she did her biological mother. After the three elders passed away, her two sons gradually grew up. It seemed that a better life was in store for Liu Dingxiang. Unfortunately, Liu’s husband was bed-ridden with cerebral infarction in 1999 and had to be hospitalized for treatment every year. This situation continued until 2010. Liu Dingxiang cried every day, praying to God to let her husband get better as soon as possible. On December 12, 2016, Liu Dingxiang ran away from home. Fortunately, with the help of many people, Liu Dingxiang returned home smoothly on June 21, 2018 after being away from home for a year and a half.

Ding Manni          Liao Chaoying

Ding Manni (from Shaowu, Fujian Province) was drawn into the "Almighty God" cult disguised as Christianity. She ran away from home in mid-2016 after experiencing various difficulties. For example, her husband lost their family savings in gambling, their snack store business went through ups and downs, her mother-in-law suffered a traffic accident, and her son got addicted to games. As for Liao Chaoying, a 43-year-old woman from Chishui, Guizhou Province, two unfortunate marriages and long-term illness are the main reasons she had been deceived and bewitched by the "Almighty God" cult.

Parents miss their children, spouses miss their partners, and children love their parents. Regardless of the reason for which people were poisoned and bewitched by the "Almighty God" cult, their departure from home left their families with nothing but endless pain and sorrow.

Gao Ailing           Zhang Xiaohua

Gao Ailing, 44, from Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, joined the "Almighty God" cult around 2006. Although Gao had believed in the cult for more than 10 years, it didn’t bring her the life she had longed for. Her beloved granddaughter was born with congenital heart disease. During the Spring Festival this year, Gao’s daughter and son-in-law, bringing with them Gao’s granddaughter, came to visit Gao at her home, only to find that she had left home on Feb. 12. Gao’s daughter became a mother at a young age when she was still unprepared for it, and had to carry the burden of raising a young child with congenital heart disease. With her mother’s absence from home, she couldn’t bear the pressure and suffered from depression in the end, which resulted in her mental disorder. She was first hospitalized for treatment in Beijing for about half a month, and then she went to a psychiatric hospital in her local area, where she was still hospitalized for treatment.

Zhang Xiaohua (from Xiaogan, Hubei Province), 48 years old, was dragged into the "Almighty God" cult from formal Christianity in 2012. She ran away from home on May 20, 2017. Zhang’s departure dealt a great blow to her son, who had never been away from his mother for a day during his 15 years of life. Zhang’s son was so devastated that he dropped out of school. He neither went to school nor worked for a living.

Such examples are too numerous to mention one by one.

Li Mali                 Jing Guimei

In fact, the vast majority of those who ran away from home under the influence of the "Almighty God" cult were worried about their families when they left. Li Mali, from Tongchuan, Shaanxi Province, cried in private several times before leaving home. Jing Guimei (from Huanggang, Hubei Province) cleaned up her house before leaving. Ding Wei (from Bengbu, Anhui Province) steamed white buns for her children and asked her elder daughter to take good care of her younger sister...

Why did these people who used to be hard-working and kind-hearted get so obsessed with the "Almighty God" cult that they couldn’t extricate themselves from it and even leave behind their sick parents or infant children to run away from home? It was the heresies of the "Almighty God" cult that drove them away from their homes.

The Letter of Commitment to Terminate the Parent-Child Relationship left by Zeng Jinmei (a member of the "Almighty God" cult) to her children

I wish that everyone will keep their eyes open, distinguish right from wrong, recognize the nature of evil cults, and guard their happiness so that such tragedies will never repeat themselves.
