KIEV, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's foreign minister Petro Poroshenko said on Wednesday that his country is interested in closer relations with China, saying the development of Ukrainian-Chinese ties is one of the strategic priorities for Ukraine's diplomacy.

"Ukraine attaches great importance to developing relations with China in political and economical spheres, as well as in security cooperation," Poroshenko told Xinhua during an end-of-year press conference in Kiev.
He said Ukraine and China have great potential in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation, especially in the area of foreign trade.
"Several high-level Chinese official delegations have visited Ukraine in the past year. This fact also showed China is willing to strengthen relations with Ukraine," added he.
