The third "Tea Fight", a competition that mimics a traditional custom that was popular during the Southern Song Dynasty has been held on October 11 in the imperial sites dating back to the period in east China's Hangzhou City.
The theme of the event this year is "enjoying the smell and spirit of tea".
It featured competitions in brewing an excellent cup of tea, reproducing the scenes from the Southern Song Dynasty when the art of "tea fights" were in its heyday.
The event attracted nearly a hundred participants, including tea masters and amateurs, students and foreigners who are interested in tea culture.
A "Tea Fight" is a traditional Chinese custom. It is a competition to make a good cup of tea.
The participants must go through five processes in the competition: choosing a good tea cake, grinding the tea, boiling the water, churning the cream, and infusing the tea while stirring.
The quality of a good cup of tea is determined by the color of the tea and the duration that the foam lasts after the tea is stirred.
