"After reading the report about the case of Fu Yibin's killing of his father and his wife, my heart started pounding. I told Li Hongzhi in my diary, if your practice and consummation should be achieved in this way, your disciple Wang Jindong would rather give up."
The above words came from a former Falun Gong follower Wang Jindong, who planned, agitated, and organized the self-burning incident on Tian'anmen Square together with some other practitioners.
At the New Year's Eve of 2001, with much trumpeted "last consummation" by Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong obsessed Wang Jindong and six others made the self-burning tragedy on Tian'anmen Square which shocked the world and caused two deaths and three severe hurts.
In 2002, one year after the incident, how are things now for those who were hoodwinked by Falun Gong and attended the self-burning? Have their heart and soul recovered? Reporters went to Henan Province and interviewed them recently.
It's the bright morning waking up from nightmare, and the warm sunshine drives haze away
According to the briefing given by the relative authority, of the seven people who planned, organized and implemented the self-burning incident, Liu Chunling was burned to death on the spot, Liu Siying was dead afterwards for her serious injuries. While Liu Yunfang, Wang Jindong, Liu Baorong and Xue Hongjun were sent back to Henan province after trials last year. The badly injured Chen Guo and Hao Huijun were also sent back to their hometown after careful treatment in Beijing.
Liu Baorong is a retired worker of Kaifeng textile mill, she was an accomplice in the incident. Since she had confessed herself guilty, she was exempted from criminal punishment according to the law. On Aug. 23, 2001, she was escorted back to her hometown.
Living in a common residential building on the Songcheng Road of Kaifeng City, Liu Baorong still feels fearful when recalling the scene of self-burnings. "I'm the first one who drunk the gasoline among the seven," she says, "Thanks to the policemen for timely prevention, or else I will be killed on the spot."
With the help of local government, Liu Baorong's life goes back to the right path after returning to hometown. In her leisure time, she sometimes intones poems of Tang and Song dynasties, sometimes watches scientific television programs. "I have a pension of more than 400 yuan per month, and the salary of my husband is more than 1000 yuan, my life has no problem. To tell you the truth, I want to live like a normal person. Whenever I recall the two poor children Chen Guo and Liu Siying, my heart aches. The present life is hardly earned, I will cherish it!" said Liu Baorong grievously.
The lives of the mother and daughter, Hao Huijun and Chen Guo were once in danger. However, with the meticulous care of the government and under the energetic rescue of the medical personnel, they gained their second lives.
In the intensive careroom of the hospital, the winter sunlight shines the white bed through the bright windows. On the windowsill, there are two fragrant carnations inserted in the bottle of brine. The colorful TV set and the electric warming machine embody the people's care to the patients.
Chen Guo was once a beautiful young girl, however, her facial features are blurred and her body is full of scars due to the burning. Right now, she lies on the bed alongside the window and enjoys the warm sunlight. Her mother Hao Huijun is also watching the television with her only eye left. Besides the bed of Chen Guo there is the favorite teddy bear of Liu Siying when she was alive, and there is also a box in which contains hundreds of letters and paper cranes from people all round the country. And there are newly published magazines such as "Reader"("Duzhe"), "Shanghai Finery"("Shanghai Fushi"), "Making Life Beautiful"("Meihua Shenghuo") piled up on the head of the bed.
According to the introduction of Cui Wei, deputy director of the hospital, Chen Guo got deep degree burn of big coverage and the stumps of both hands were necrotic, therefore they amputated her stumps from the far end of her wrist. While the burning injure in the frontal bone of Hao Huijun did not recover completely, one of her eyes was extirpated because of putrescence, and she has flexion trouble in the coax. In order to take good care of these two patients, the local government and medical department equipped an electric warming machine, a colorful TV set and an antisepsis tank for them. And since the hands of both Chen Guo and Hao Huijun were amputated, they lost the capability of self-management for the whole life. Beside the special doctors and nurses assigned by the hospital for them, other four nursing staffs have been employed to look after them for the whole day. A nursing staff told reporters that the mother and daughter have a good appetite, Chen Guo keeps eating sock and fruits all the day and her mother called her "flexible belly".
On the New Year's Day, the hospital prepared Jiaozi especially for them. The emotion of both of them is stable now; Chen Guo sometimes hums some part of a pop song, and jokes with her mother from time to time. Chen Guo said: "I feel my mother looking like a big puppet and I call her 'big puppet', and mother calls 'little puppet' back to me." Chen Guo can watch TV and read newspaper with her right eye, which is not conglutinant completely and only leaves a narrow gap between the eyelids. Recently she has learnt singing "Profound emotion and soft rain". When we said goodbye to her, Chen Guo requested reporters to say hello to her classmates of college. "Tell my classmates that I miss them very much."
The essence of the evil religion and the cruel reality have shocked Wang Jindong and Xue Hongjun, who are serving their sentences in prison. After recognizing the vicious political intention of Li Hongzhi, they feel the warmth of the Party and the government even more.
As to the civilized management and patient education in the prison, Xue Hongjun has profound feelings, "the 'Minghui net' of Falun Gong usually claimed that 'DaFa disciples' were tortured in Chinese labor education camps and prisons, actually it is a sheer rumor. The jail is just like a school, in which you can get your soul rebuilt."
Hard ice has been melted by warm heart, and the kindness of the Party will never be forgotten
"When I came back, I was still thinking that I had made such a big trouble for Kaifeng and I was the shame of the people of Kaifeng. However, the government and the society are still nice to me." When Liu Baorong talked about the transforming work of the government, she couldn't help praising.
In order to help and educate Liu Baorong better, Henan province and Kaifeng city set up a helping and educating team timely and gave helps to her at home. In addition, they helped Liu Baorong handle the procedure of retirement, which relieved her worries.
The motherly warm heart melted the heart once abnormal and ice-cold. Liu Baorong said with tears: "People are so kind to me, I will break from Li Hongzhi and his evil religiono Falun Gong".
The same moving stories took place in prison
On November 17, 2001, Falun Gong practitioners Liu Yunfang, Wang Jindong and Xue Hongjun were transferred to a prison of Henan from Beijing. Since it was very cold and the three people were not very healthy, the administrators in the prison allowed them not to go outside to drill. At that time, the prison staffs took comprehensive care of them from the aspects of clothing, feeding and housing. In addition, they brought them three warmer quilts. The blood pressure of Xue Hongjun was a litter high when he entered the prison, and the doctor of the prison checked him twice a day and cured him.
After transferring to the prison in Henan province, Wang Jindong missed his wife and daughter from time to time, the administrators there judged that his affection to family did not die out, therefore they decided to seize the chance to give him timely education. The prison staff patiently analyzed 1,700 tragedies caused by Falun Gong with Wang Jindong, which shocked his mind. He said: "Although I argued with them composedly at times, but I feel I am incompetent to debate."
While strengthening ideological education, the policemen invited the sister and brother of Wang Jindong, which aroused the affection deep inside his heart. Wang Jindong wrote in the report that day:"It's more than 300 days after the incident, I really want to know what`s going on for my family and I dream to meet them."
The painstaking education of administrators shaken the adherent evil thought deep inside the heart of Wang Jindong. Thinking about the miserable fates of Liu Chunling, Liu Siying, Hao Huijun and Chen Guo in the self-burning incident, Wang Jindong cried on bed at night, and he wrote subsequently, "Why the goal I pursued turned to be killing myself and others?" "If this is the way to achieve 'consummation' of practicing Dafa, I am willing to give up such 'consummation'! My God! My God! Why does everything like this?"
On Nov. 26, 2001, when Wang Jindong met with his wife and daughter for whom he missed a long time, he expressed his decision at the face of the policemen and his family:"I confess! I apologize to people!" At that night he wrote"the letter of breaking from Falun Gong". The day of Jan. 8, 2001 was the 51 birthday of Wang Jindong, his wife He Haihua and his daughter Wang Juan went to the prison with the books of " Five thousand years' history of China" and "Dictionary of idiom". He Haihua told reporter, "Although we didn't buy a lot of presents, but our company with him was the best birthday present."
At the same time, Xue Hongjun fully recognized the evil essence of the evil religion of Falun Gong with the help and education of policemen in the prison. At the visiting day, all of his family members came to visit him, including his little grandson of one hundred days old. Seeing his lovely grandson, Xue Hongjun shed tears. After that visit, he put the photo of his grandson in the pocket closet to his chest. He said, "Whenever I am tired when writing the exposing materials, I usually take out the photo of my grandson."
Wry theories and heretical ideas are the sources of tragedies, and it's a long-term task of eradicating evilness
Bloody truths show clearly to Wang Jindong, Xue Hongjun and others that Falun Gong brings people no happiness, no "consummation", but hateful sins and shocking tragedies.
On Dec. 31, 2001, Xue Hongjun assailed in "A public letter to Li Hongzhi" that, "after the government made certain that Falun Gong was an evil religion, you released a lot of lections in which you asked followers to 'walk out', ……actually we did that……then you released the lection of 'beyong endurance'. As your follower, I couldn't figure out how can we accord with Dafa, and how can we achieve 'consummation'. You led us to an evil path of anti-government, anti-society and anti-human kind, and you were not satisfied. I don't know where will you lead us to."
Xue Hongjun, who got lost in Falun Gong in 1994, recalled that he had learnt "Zhuang Falun" for almost 500 times in eight years. And past Falun Gong to Wang Jindong thereafter, which was within an inch of leading his family to a desperate path. "When I saw my old friends changed completely, I felt very heart-struck," said Xue Hongjun, "If we abandoned fame, benefit and affection as the request of Li Hongzhi, then what would leave in the mind of people? There were just the wry theories and heretical ideas of Falun Gong. If you did according to the request of Li Hongzhi, you would become the robot in the hands of Li Hongzhi."
With profound confession, Xue Hongjun and Wang Jindong are writing materials with their personal experiences so as to warn people. Xue Hongjun is ready to entitle his material as "The anatomy of the evil religion Falun Gong". Wang Jindong wrote "A public letter to Li Hongzhi" of nearly 20 thousand words and fifty pages, in which Wang Jindong recalled in detail the whole process of being cheated, walking into the lair and organizing the self-burning incident. Wang Jindong said, "I will arouse those obsessed with my personal experiences."
Comparing with Wang Jindong and Xue Hongjun, the present status of Hao Huijun and Chen Guo, the mother and daughter, is a kind of silent charge against Falun Gong.
In the ward of the hospital, reporter asked Hao Huijun, "Why you chose to burn yourself at that time."
After a long time silence, Hao Huijun said painfully, "It's the blind worship. I won't to mention Falun Gong anymore!"
The thought of Hao Huijun and Chen Guo deepened gradually. After watching TV report about Fu Yibin's murdering of his father and his wife, the two were shocked. Hao Huijun said, "There were just several steps in one's life, choosing rightly, you will grasp your life, or it would be very dangerous," Chen Guo also complained to her mother, "It's you who burn me so badly, I cannot play lute now."
The memory about the past aroused her to hate Falun Gong even more.
"What does your daughter look like in your memory?"
"Very beautiful!"
"What does her look like now?"
"Still the same with my memory."
"How about you?"
"I sometimes saw my appearance before in my dream."
"How do you feel now?"
"I feel very annoyed thinking about what I have done..."
Chen Guo missed her once happy college life very much. She told reporter, "The melody I played best is 'Ba Wang Xie Jia', if this incident never took place, I am now a senior student, and maybe I am in my internship now! Sometimes I would remember the time when I played lute." After her speech, she gestured in front of her body, "You should press the string with the left hand and play it with the right hand."
Looking at the harrowing scene, the younger sister of Hao Huijun shed tears. She said sadly, "Chen Guo is the beloved daughter of my whole family. In order to give her a successful future, my father helped her to go to college with his pension. The criminal evil religion Falun Gong not only destroyed the bright future of Chen Guo, but also ruined the hope of my whole family."
The crimes of Falun Gong brought great physical pain to Chen Guo, Wang Jindong and other people. What made them angry is that Li Hongzhi instigated followers to burn themselves in the first place, but denied that it's the action of "Dafa practitioners" thereafter. And he did his best to spread fallacies to deceive people and frame a case against the Party and the government.
When mentioning the rumor produced by the evil religion Falun Gong, Liu Baorong was a little agitated. "Falun Gong is lying, they will result a bad end."
Xue Hongjun pointed out the intention of the rumor of Falun Gong, "Li Hongzhi is a big liar, he want to stir up people to confront with the government on the one hand, and is afraid to expose his original appearance on the other hand, so he produced rumor through 'Minghui Net' and dare not to admit the truth."
Wang Jindong also called: "What I said is true, killing people is the true face of Falun Gong. and Li Hongzhi is the most hateful devil. There would be more tragedies in the world without banning of the evil religion Falun Gong!" At his home in Longting district of Kaifeng City, his wife He Haihua was very angry about the rumor forged by Falun Gong. "The bloody truth happened to my family, the disavowal of Falun Gong is unbelievable."
The essence of the evil religion Falun Gong－endangering the society and cruelly killing people—is very clear. Right now, this evil organization has become the mice everyone hates, and a lot of obsessed practitioners are repentant about their action before and decide to break from Falun Gong completely. However, there is still some one who is bigoted, and the end waiting for them is self-ruining.
Tragedy should not be repeated. Be cautious, virtuous people!
