On 23 January 2001, 7 Falun Gong practicer burnt themselves at the same time on Tian'anmen Square. But, the Falun Gong headquarter in the US openly denied that those self-burners were Falun Gong practicers, but lied that this incident was schemed by the Chinese Government. Xinhua reporter interviewed with representative of Chinese Women's Federation Wang Juan who was attending the UN Human Rights Conference in Geneva lately. She is not only the daughter of one of the self-burners Wang Jindong, but once a Falun Gong addict herself.
Wang Juan, in an obsessed condition at the time, expressed the pride toward her father's self-burning on Tian'anmen Square in front of a CCTV camera. However, when mentioning the lie of Falun Gong today, she was very angry. She said in a straightforward manner, "I think the Falun Gong organization goes so far today is not practice and cultivation at all. It has become crazy, and reveals its nature of a cult even better."
Her family members began to practice Falun Gong in 1997 and once as bad as obsessed, she said. It is in the condition of obsession, they were deluded by Li Hongzhi's fallacies and absurdities and finally went to Tian'anmen Square to burn themselves, breaking the law and endangered the society. "In fact, whether my father is a disciple of Da Fa, the Falun Gong must know. After the self-burning incident, they have send someone to investigate in Kaifeng, and proved my father a disciple of Da Fa exactly. Now, they say that my father is not a disciple of Da Fa, and the self-burning incident was manipulated by the government. This kind of mean trick is extremely absurd."
Falun Gong also claims that the face of Wang Jindong on TV was thinner, but Wang Jindong taking part in the self-burning incident was fatter, so the one burnt himself was not Wang Jindong. Wang Juan refutes that the photo on TV was taken 21 years ago, but her father was 51 when he burnt himself. After more than 20 years, he became fat and his face turned round. This is very normal.
When she came to this, 23 year old Wang Juan put out the joint photo with her parents when she was a child and the photo taken with her parents when visiting Wang Jindong in prison lately. After 20 years, Wang Jindong obviously becomes fat, but can still be recognized with a little change by a glance. In the new photograph, Wang Jindong's burnt wound on his face gets almost healed, but the scar is still clearly seen.
When she talked about the process that her father changed during his imprisonment, Wang Juan said, he had become a bit awaken when she visited him last December. But he thoroughly recognized the truth about Falun Gong after Fu Yibin killed his father and wife. "That incident touched my father greatly, and awakened him all of a sudden. When I visit him in February, he expressed his deep sorrow and regret to his former deeds. Especially, when we mentioned Liu Chunling, Liu Siying and her mother who were dead in the self-burning incident and Hao Huijun, Chen Guo and her mother who were seriously handicapped, he was pained to tears time and time again as the organizer of the self-burning incident."
To refute Falun Gong's rumor that all Falun Gong practicers in custody are brutally beaten up and abused, Wang Juan told her own experiences. Her mother and she went to Tian'anmen to "promote dharma", and was sent into the house of detention for disturbing public order at the end of 2000. She was told by other Falun Gong practicers before that she would face up with brutal abuse and be locked into a small, dark and horrible cell once she was detent. But she found the living place clean and tidy with a good environment.
