How Falun Gong looks at killings committed by its members

2009-04-08 Author:China Association for Cultic Studies

Falun Gong practitioners have killed many innocent people in the light of Li Hongzhi's "demon elimination" theory which is one of the most horrific Falun Gong teachings in violation of law. Li claimed: "The wretched demons just deserve to be killed." Bewitched by Li Hongzhi's theory and in order to reach Consummation, some obsessed practitioners cruelly killed innocent people or even their own family members in the name of "eliminating demons."

Who are the "demons"?

According to Falun Gong teachings, those who interfere with Falun Gong practice are all "demons," including people and organizations boycotting propagation of the cult. Li Hongzhi also called them "the evils," "the old forces," "the wretched ghosts," "the Fa-meddling ghosts" or "the Satan Demons" etc.

Some people went astray and practiced Falun Gong but accidentally died violent deaths later on. To patch up his lie that "the true cultivators will not get sick or subject to dangers," Li Hongzhi viciously called them "demons." Li said: "The type of demons that are most difficult to recognize are as follows, and they're capable of doing major damage. They come to learn Falun Dafa as others do...Then all of a sudden they die or all of a sudden they go down the opposite path, and damage Falun Dafa this way." Why Falun Gong instigates its followers to "eliminate demons"?

Li Hongzhi said: "The animal (demon) doesn't just possess the body, it also kills the person's Primordial Spirit." Here the "Primordial Spirit" Li mentioned refers to a person's soul.

According to Li's description, the "demons" are extremely vicious and as the result, they must be eradicated.

In his scripture Explaining the Content of Falun Dafa, Li Hongzhi stated explicitly: "The wretched demons just deserve to be killed."

"The problem of meddling by wicked entities is sure to arise when a person is cultivating to high levels." (China Falun Gong, Revised Version)

"If the evil has already reached the point where it is unsavable and unkeepable, then various measures at different levels can be used to stop it and eradicate it…Completely eliminating the evil is for Fa-rectification, and not a matter of personal cultivation." (Beyond the Limits of Forbearance)

What are the consequences of "eliminating demons"?

Inspired by the mental implication of Li Hongzhi, some practitioners broke into hysterics and insanity, killing people involuntarily.

On August 23, 1996, Wang Xuezhong, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jiahe County of Hunan Province, declared his own father Wang Jirong a demon; hacked the old man 17 times on his head, neck and chest with a knife, and killed his father then and there.

On February 25, 1998, Wu Deqiao, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jiangsu Province, was practicing Falun Gong at home during night. He thought his wife was "a demon" because she tried to stop him from cultivation, and cruelly killed her with a kitchen knife.

On April 8, 1998, Wang Anshou, a worker and a Falun Gong follower in Shandong Province, regarded his father as "a demon" whose body was obsessed by a tiger spirit because his father dissuaded him not to practice Falun Gong, and brutally killed his father with a spade.

On March 20, 1999, Li Ting, a Falun Gong practitioner in Chengde City of Hebei Province, under 18 then, thought his mother and father were both demons; to eliminate "the demons," he mercilessly killed his parents at home.

On February 20, 2001, Lan Shaowei, an obsessed Falun Gong practitioner in Guangdong's Shenzhen, killed his wife Wei Zhihua. Lan thought his wife was "a demon" because she had discarded Falun Gong practice. Lan Shaowei and other fellow practitioners tied Wei Zhihua up, covered her mouth and nose, and cruelly strangled her.

In April 2002, Guan Shuyun, a Falun Gong practitioner in Yichun County of Heilongjiang Province, took her nine-year-old daughter Dai Nan as "a demon," and strangled the girl.

On April 7, 2008, four Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun City of Jilin Province, "expelled evil spirit" for another practitioner named Xiao, and killed her. They picked Xiao with steel needles, burnt her with boiling water, froze her with icy cubes and eventually beat her up to death.
