Li Yuanzhen fell into the deep canyon and died

My name is Zhang Xiaoming, 32 years old. I come from Guixian Village, Hanyuan County in Sichuan Province. My mother is Li Yuanzhen, born in 1955, with middle school education, while my father suffers from asthma and caught so much in winter. My mother plants vegetables then sells them to get money.

My mother used to sell vegetables in the Wusihe Town, where it joins four different regions. There is a railway station in the town, so villagers nearby always go to the market to sell their goods.

It was a summer morning in 1996, my mother made her acquaintance with Huang Lianhua, who is a doctor in a health clinic in Xiaobao Village. Huang Lianhua was clear about our hard life and my father's disease. She persuaded my mother to join in Falun Gong and told her that my whole family would benefit a lot from her practice. She said that Falun Gong could not only improve her health but also help my father to fight against the disease.

My mother was an honest farmer and my father had to take medicines all year round. Seeing even the doctor Huang Lianhua had joined Falun Gong, my mother decided to have a try. She received a Falun Gong book and a cushion for practice from Huang Lianhua.

When my mother came home, she asked my father to practice Falun Gong with her, but my father refused. My mother had to practice alone, hoping my father will recover because of her practice.

At first, my mother still went to the market to sell vegetables and took care of my family. Since August 1997, when I was employed by a forest product company after my graduation from a technical school, she no longer planted and sold vegetable. Even more, she became indifferent to my father's disease.

My mother neither decocted Chinese medicine herbs for my father, nor allowed anyone to decoct it at home. She said it would influence her practice. My father had to buy some western pills behind her back. However, the pills would be thrown into the closestool if my mother found it. She said the medicine would add more karma to my father's disease, which was hard to be eliminated.

Winter is a hard time for people suffering from asthma. Since my mother had practiced Falun Gong, my father couldn't take the medicines properly. In the late November 1997, he fell sick. Seeing my father's pain, I decided to send him to the hospital, however, my mother stopped me. She thought that she was eliminating karma for my father and the course would be surely painful. She even warned me not to speak of "hospital" again, otherwise, she would break off with me.

Failing to persuade my mother, I had to return to work for some urgent things. Before long, my neighbor called me and told me that my mother had got mad while my father was seriously ill. When I rushed home, I saw my mother putting her palms together in front of her chest, sitting in the middle of a white wood board, cross- legged. She wore a white towel on her head, a white quilted jacket and a pair of white shoes, muttering to herself ceaselessly.

I rushed into my father's bedroom. He was half-naked, lying beside the bedside with his whole body trembling on and on. He seemed to whisper something. I approached to him and he murmured with difficulty close to my ears:"Min, I felt so bad. Do not blame your mom. When I died, take your mom to…" As he said this, my father closed his eyes, and passed away. I persuaded my mother to give up practicing Falun Gong just for the death of my father. However, she didn't feel sad, but regarding my father's death as a kind of "releasing souls from purgatory" done by Li Hongzhi.

I asked my mother to move to the town with me so that I could take care of her. In the contrary, she refused and persuaded me to practice with her. She believed I could achieve the Consummation one day because I am in good health.

Failing to persuade my mother, I had to give up the idea of bringing her to the town.

On July 22, 1999, China officially banned Falun Gong. With the news, I rushed home and again asked my mother to move. Still, she refused. Seeing my mother's outrageously bigoted viewpoint, I couldn't help arguing with her:"Since Falun Gong is good, why my dad died…" My mother cut off my words at once, cried and swore at me. She told me that I would be punished for saying that. She was very angry and decided to break off with me.

Since then, my mother cared nothing but the so-called "consummation", not to speak of me.

On the National Day of 2003 when I got married, my mother didn't turn up. In the late April, 2005, when I gave birth to a baby, she didn't come to see me, either. When I wanted home to visit her in holidays, she was either absent or promoted the Fa secretly somewhere else. When she saw me, she didn't allow me to call her "mom". To her opinion, the Master was gazing at her in the heaven. If she failed to break off with me, she would be blamed and punished by the God.

"You are getting old. You should take care of yourself and stop going about since you are no longer young," I told my mother. She replied to me that the day of achieving Consummation was approaching closer and closer, so he must grasp this opportunity. She wanted to prove to the Master that she was a genuine Falun Gong practitioner so that the Master would take him to the world of Falun.

It was the early morning of January 1, 2012, the thing I worried about most happened. My neighbor called me and said that my mother had fallen into a deep grand canyon when she took a shortcut to the Wusihe Town.

When I arrived at the scene, I was shocked by what I'd seen. My mother was lying on the grassland near a big rock, with her eyes open. A pool of blood coagulated besides her head and a pile of Falun Gong brochures was scattering about everywhere. Her whole body went cold and stiff.

After a few days, Police Wang called me and told me what had happened that day. At around nine o'clock on Dec. 31, 2011, Huang Lianhua phoned my mother, asking her to rush to the Wusihe Railway Station to promote the Fa. In order to save time, my mother took a shortcut and hurried to the railway station at night. When she passed by the Changheba Grand Canyon, she fell into the canyon, and died.
