Falun Gong media sued in the U.S. for illegally broadcasting TV series

Although advertising itself as "a free, independent and non-profit TV station", the Falun Gong-affiliated New Tang Dynasty TV (NTDTV) has been illegally broadcasting TV series produced in mainland China as a way to increase its audience ratings and obtain advertisement revenues. In February this year, NTDTV was found illegally broadcasting The Duke of Mount Deer (directed by Zhang Jizhong in 2008) by the TV series’ copyright owner, Tai Seng Entertainment. After solemn negotiations, the New Tang Dynasty TV stopped its illegal behaviors on February 27. Again, in the following April, NTDTV illegally broadcast Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain, a TV series produced by Beijing CIWEN FILM Distribution Co., Ltd and distributed by Tai Seng Entertainment in overseas market. Although having received several lawyer’s letters issued by Tai Seng Entertainment, NTDTV turned a deaf ear and continued broadcasting the TV series illegally. Therefore, Tai Seng Entertainment filed a lawsuit against NTDTV for its infringement of intellectual property right in the Court of California in early May. The Court officially accepted the case on May 9, and issued a summons to NTDTV on May 11. Now the case is under further trial.
