As Hollywoodreporter said on Sep.22,Alex Gibney's documentary Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief drew 88,000 viewers on British pay TV giant Sky's Sky Atlantic on Monday night, from 9 p.m. to 11:25 p.m. slot, according to overnight ratings data.
It also reported that, the doc, which has already been screening in British theaters, was recently given its air date across the U.K., including
Northern Ireland, and Ireland.
The doc is directed by Alex Gibney, which is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright's book of the same name, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. Brainwashing, torture, organized harassment, blackmail: just a few of the persuasive techniques allegedly employed by the Church of Scientology, according to the documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. Going Clear features archival footage of church founder L. Ron Hubbard, church leader David Miscavige and celebrity Scientologists such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Recently, the documentary draws a lot of concerns. It was shown at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival on January 25 and it seems to have sent shockwaves throughout the festival and the film community. Since March, Scientology and the Prison of Belief has been released on HBO. The doc has been aired at theaters in Russia on Sep.24 after it is released at Russia 24_DOC television.
