A cult not only destroyed a person’s life but also cause huge trauma to their family. Nothing can make up for this loss. It has deprived three generations of their happy life. 

Zhang Yongjing worked with a public institution in Dongxihu, Wuhan city. She was diligent at work and took good care of her family. However, after she got in touch with Falun Gong in 1998, the whole family fell under the dark clouds of the cult. Her own life was in danger; to her daughter, she was no longer a loving mother; to her husband, she was no long a good wife; to her parents, she was no long an obedient daughter. 

Quiet Life Disturbed 

“She was a very good girl. After she got obsessed with Falun Gong, she became unreasonable,” recalled their neighbor Mrs. Zhang. Zhang remembers that Zhang Yongjing began to suffer from migraines in 1997. She was upset because she could not find effective treatment. If she listened to the doctors and took medication and good rest, she would have been cured. However, she was impatient and sought for a “magical treatment” everywhere. In the summer of 1998, she was seduced into Falun Gong by other practitioners and began to practice secretly. Her mother tried to stop her, telling her that practicing could not cure her illness but she lied that doctors couldn’t cure her but would kill her. She claimed that practicing Falun Gong would help her get rid of her illness and save her. She practiced with other Falun Gong believers in the morning and at night. After coming back home, she would read “Turning Falun” and call out to her “master”. Gradually, she began to neglect her family and devote herself to studying the evil theories of Falun Gong. Her former life no longer existed because of the cult. 

Weak body tortured 

After joining Falun Gong, Zhang Yongjing became irritable. If her family said something, she would ridicule them by saying that they were “ordinary people” and “hopeless”. Later, she was cold to her mother and ignored her. She became increasingly obsessed with “Falun Gong”. In the summer of 1999, the state banned Falun Gong. Her family tried to persuade her to give up the cult and receive regular treatment but she accused them of belittling her “master”, disobeying “Dafa” and hindering her from “going to heaven,” and hit them. By that time, she was tortured by headaches and couldn’t go to work. Her workplace sent a special team to help her but she didn’t listen to them. She quit her job and devoted herself to practicing at home. She didn’t allow her family to say anything bad about “Falun Gong”. If she was unsatisfied, she would shout at her parents. Her parents were devastated both physically and mentally. She was very weak in body and fainted many times at home and on the street. Her family would interrupt if she practiced and even threw away her cult books and clothes. At last, she ran away from home and lived with other practitioners, saying that she couldn’t receive her master’s guidance if she practiced at home. The evil Falun Gong took the former well-behaved girl away. 

Life ended by cult 

On August 25, 2004, a Falun Gong practitioner brought bad news to Zhang Yongjing’s family. Zhang died on her exercise mat at the age of 33. Forensic examination showed that she died of cerebral hemorrhage. A young life left this world forever. Falun Gong, which she was obsessed with, deprived her of her life without easing her pain. Falun Gong destroyed not only her life but also her family. Sorrow turned into tears. A former harmonious, happy and warm family fell apart.
