Kazakhstan enlarges the strike against Jehovah's Witness
Recently, A Kazakhstan court ordered the Jehovah’s Witness branch office in Almaty to suspend their operations for three months and fined them 680,000 KZT ($2,107). In fact, before the verdict, The court has increased its scrutiny of Jehovah’s Witnesses. First, held a surprise check on the Jehovah's witnesses in the Almaty branch in May 17, 2017. Second, the arrest of the local Jehovah’s Witnesses Teymur Akhmedov who was charged with inciting religious hatred.
The first person arrested for incitement to religious hatred
On June 20, 2017, the Astana City Court dismissed Teymur Akhmedov’s appeal of his criminal conviction, affirming a five-year prison term and an additional three-year ban on his religious activity. In particular, in January 2017, National Security Committee officers arrested and detained Akhmedov for alleged illegal religious activity. Then, on May 2, 2017, when the Saryarkinskiy District Court unjustly convicted him on the basis of Article 174 (2) of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code, which punishes incitement of religious hatred. In the end, on June 20, 2017, Teymur Akhmedov was sentenced to five years’imprisonment and an additional three-year ban on his religious activity by the court.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are officially Banned in Russia
On April 20, 2017，Russia’s Supreme Court has backed the Ministry of Justice’s move to liquidate the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Administrative Center and its nearly 400 religious organizations throughout the country and will seize its property, beginning immediately.Because this organization’s activities violated Russia’s ANTI EXTREMISM LAW.
It is suspected of inciting hatred against other religions and spread banned culture.
On March 16,2017,The Russian Ministry of religion information office said in a statement that Jehovah’s Witnesses has an estimated 2200 churches and 175 thousand followers in Russia.It is an extremist group under the banner of Biblical faith.Legalizing the organization would have dire consequences for religious freedom in Russia.
On March 15, 2017, The Russian Justice Department has submitted a lawsuit to the Supreme Court, to prohibit the activities of the Ye Hehua witness in the territory.
It is reported that a member of the Danish Jehovah's witness, who has been arrested for advocacy of extreme doctrines in Russia, faces up to 10 years in prison in May 30, 2017. This is the first member of the convicted Russian Jehovah’s witness. It was also the first time in Russian history that people have been arrested for religious beliefs.
At the same time, Kazakhstan’s sentence for Tamir Akhmetov, the Jehovah's Witness, was no different from Russia's. So, Many people believe that Kazakhstan prohibits the Lord witness from following russia.Kazakhstan will be following Russia, another country forbidden Jehovah’s Witnesses.
