“The heretical teachings of Falun Gong really have killed many innocent people!” said Wu Jian (pseudonym), who lives in southern Hunan. He continued, “I was obsessed with Falun Gong for over twenty years, believing that Li Hongzhi was a Buddha and that practicing Falun Gong was the only way to avoid disaster and achieve 'Perfection' or even to become a Buddha. Li Hongzhi taught that being sick was a way to eliminate karma and that one should not seek medical treatment or take medicine. As a result, many of us refused medical treatment, leading to deaths from untreated illnesses! I am a witness to it!”
Now in his sixties, Wu Jian is from southern Hunan. He was once a key technician in a garment factory, lived a happy family life after getting married and having kids. However, after starting to practice Falun Gong in 1995, he devoted all his energy to “cultivation” and attended “Fa-promoting” activities with fellow practitioners. In July 1999, when the State legally banned the cult of Falun Gong, Wu Jian and some other fanatics were deluded by Li Hongzhi's call to “step forward and clarify the truth”, engaging in many illegal activities and being legally dealt with multiple times for participating in the cult's illegal activities.
Wu Jian said, at that time, they abandoned everything common among ordinary people, including life, and firmly followed Li Hongzhi's twisted and heretical teachings to step out for “Fa-rectification”, which they believed was the path to achieve “Perfection” and establish their “Falun world” and “virtue”. Most people were forced out because they were afraid of losing the last chance for “Perfection”, essentially being driven out by Li Hongzhi's orders. Over the past twenty years, Li Hongzhi's promise of “Perfection” burst like a soap bubble time and again, and some fanatics died unfortunately and tragically because of Li Hongzhi's heretical teachings.
Wu Jian shared with journalists his personal experience of witnessing Falun Gong fanatics refusing medical treatment and dying as a result, bringing to light the victims of this evil cult. Through his testimony, these real-life cases of cult abuse were exposed, allowing the wronged souls to be vindicated.
He Xue fell ill and died without seeking medical treatment
The first case Wu Jian mentioned was his friend He Xue (pseudonym), whom he met in 2001. He Xue, a male born in 1960 with a college education, taught at a middle school in southern Hunan and had practiced Falun Gong before its ban in 1999. In March 2002, under the instigation of Li Hongzhi, Wu Jian and He Xue set up a distribution point in the city. The exact location of the distribution point was highly confidential, but it was soon discovered by the police. As a result, they were both legally dealt with. Wu Jian never saw He Xue again.
In 2005, a practitioner of Falun Gong told Wu Jian that He Xue had died of illness. Wu Jian was very surprised and immediately said: “Impossible! He was a perfectly healthy person. After we practice Falun Gong, our master has eliminated our illnesses and karma, and we are protected by ‘law bodies’, so life-threatening situations cannot occur. Moreover, he was even younger than me, only about 40 years old. How could he possibly die of illness?” That fellow practitioner said to Wu Jian: “I'm not lying to you. He Xue contracted tuberculosis, and the doctor advised him to seek treatment at a hospital, but he did not cooperate, which led to the worsening of his condition and his later death.” Upon hearing this, Wu Jian found it very hard to accept the reality.
Wu Jian said that, when he was working later in Guangzhou in 2007, he met another practitioner who also knew He Xue. Wu Jian asked her about the circumstances of He Xue's death. It turned out that she was a witness to He Xue's final moments. She told Wu Jian about the details of He Xue's death from an untreated illness. She said that He Xue's illness was tuberculosis, which was painful and hard to endure. He Xue himself actually wanted to seek treatment, but the dangerous teachings of Falun Gong did not allow it.
He Xue's wife was also a Falun Gong practitioner. She adhered to Falun Gong's views, saying that He Xue's illness was a process of eliminating karma and believing that only Li Hongzhi could save him. She forced him to study the teachings, practice the exercises, and “send forth righteous thoughts”. Moreover, many Falun Gong practitioners often secretly gathered at his house to organize group practices, surrounding him to read “Zhuan Falun” and “send forth righteous thoughts”, and encouraging him to look inward. They believed that He Xue's apparent symptoms were illusions, and that there was no need for medication, injections, or hospital treatment. As long as he followed the master's instructions, he would surely overcome the difficulty.
He Xue's parents, school leaders, and colleagues often visited him, urging him to seek treatment and preparing to send him to the hospital. To prevent He Xue from going to the hospital, these Falun Gong practitioners secretly took him to a distant illegal gathering spot in Tianhe District, Guangzhou City. Every day, they followed Li Hongzhi's instructions to study the teachings, practice Falun Gong, and send forth righteous thoughts, in order to help He Xue “eliminate karma and cure diseases”. These practitioners did not have much time to take care of him, so they would prepare lunch for him before leaving each day, asking him to heat it up at noon to eat. When they returned in the evening, they would make dinner for him.
Li Meifang (a pseudonym), who lives in Guangzhou, also took care of He Xue. She was around 60 years old, and was considered a disciple with strong “righteous thoughts” at the time. Upon learning of the situation, she immediately went to visit He Xue. Upon arrival, Li Meifang saw that he was alone in his house. With an emaciated body and pale complexion, he was lying on the bed weakly. His mental state was very poor and he was extremely weak. Seeing the cold and desolate room, unheated food and unavailable boiled water, Li Meifang couldn't help but shed tears. When asked if he had eaten, He Xue said he hadn't for several days. There was also no other food in the house, so Li Meifang went to the market to buy some noodles, eggs, lean meat, and vegetables, and made a bowl of noodle soup for He Xue. It took He Xue a long time to finish the noodles. Afterward, he felt slightly better, so he joined Li Meifang in studying the teachings and “sending forth righteous thoughts”. Li Meifang then believed that He Xue had recovered, attributing it to her strong “righteous thoughts” and the blessing of Li Hongzhi. Thus she told everyone she knew that He Xue was protected by the “main Buddha” and would not face life-threatening danger.
Some days later, He Xue's roommate found Li Meifang again and told her that He Xue was in bad health and needed help, so Li Meifang went to see He Xue again. This time she used all the methods taught by Li Hongzhi to save He Xue, but no miracle occurred. Finally, a group of ignorant fanatics watched the "Dafa disciple" He Xue, who had been "practicing Falun Gong diligently" in the past, die in pain.
Obsessed mother and daughter died from refusing medical treatment
The second case Wu Jian mentioned is about Liao Zhen (pseudonym), a female from Hunan, and her mother. Wu Jian started working with her at a restaurant in February 2002. At that time, she was just over 50, plump and fair, with a rosy and wrinkle-free complexion and very healthy body condition.
Liao Zhen is very capable and hardworking, managing the store's accounts and affairs in an orderly manner. After finishing their work each day, they would study the teachings together, send forth righteous thoughts, and even squeeze time to drive to streets and neighborhoods for illegal propaganda. Apart from working, they devoted all their time and thoughts to cultivation, hoping to keep up with the Master's “Fa-rectification” process and achieve “Consummation” soon.
Wu Jian said that Li Hongzhi promised using his “law body” to protect practitioners from life-threatening dangers, and that every practitioner deeply believed in Li Hongzhi's supernatural powers. However, the reality was quite the opposite. Once, Liao Zhen told Wu Jian that her mother was also a senior Falun Gong practitioner. During a hometown visit, she practiced Falun Gong together with her mother, finding that her mother's movements were somewhat strange and incorrect, with one hand involuntarily floating back and forth across her body. Liao Zhen asked Wu Jian why her mother exhibited such a condition. Wu Jian cited the words in “Zhuan Falun”, saying that Li Hongzhi, with “law body” protection and abilities, had rearranged a correct cultivation path for every disciple, who should never doubt that there was a problem with "Falun Gong".
After a period, Wu Jian asked Liao Zhen about her mother's condition. Liao Zhen said that her mother had always been in poor health condition and later passed away. However, her mother's death did not wake her up. Instead, she devoted even more energy to "Falun Gong”.
Later, Wu Jian went to work in another city. He returned to his hometown after the Spring Festival of 2014. On the street, Wu Jian heard a familiar voice calling him. He turned around to look but saw no one. Then, the familiar voice sounded again beside him. At this time, Wu Jian saw an old woman calling him, whom he could not recognize at first. She said, “Wu Jian, it's me.” Although the voice was familiar, it took Wu Jian a long moment to recognize her. She was Liao Zhen! Wu Jian took a closer look at her, only to see her thin and small body swathed very disproportionately in a large cotton coat. Her face was like tree bark, showing none of the vibrant look of the past. She wore a mixed-color woolen hat, looking just like a seventy or eighty-year-old lady. Wu Jian was greatly shocked and asked her, “What happened to you? How did you become like this?” He thought to himself: “Li Hongzhi says that those who practice Falun Gong are supposed to cultivate both life and spirit and remain young forever. Why does she look so ill and weak?”
At that time, Wu Jian dared not doubt Falun Gong, thinking that Liao Zhen was not ill. Nor did he persuade Liao Zhen to go to the hospital, because a “Dafa disciple” going to treat the disease would be demoted to a lower level and would not be a true cultivator. Wu Jian communicated with her, saying: “You should not come out to ‘clarify the truth’ for now. You should stay at home to study and practice diligently, and beg the master for blessings, so your body can return to normal without negatively impacting Dafa. Then you can come out to ‘clarify the truth’ again, which will have a greater impact.” She thought so too.
In July 2014, Wu Jian returned to his hometown for errands and heard that Liao Zhen was seriously ill with multiple diseases, and hospitalized in the city's tumor hospital. Wu Jian went to the tumor hospital and found her ward, where her partner was accompanying her. Wu Jian saw her lying in the hospital bed. Her complexion was slightly better than the last time he saw her on the street, but she was thinner, with an IV drip in her arm and a nasal cannula for oxygen, which had been turned off. When she saw Wu Jian, there was no joy in her expression. She said to him in a weak voice: “Please turn on the oxygen! I feel so uncomfortable.” Wu Jian turned on the oxygen supply. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes weakly to rest, and had no energy to talk with Wu Jian. Her partner said it was too late. She had been sick for a long time, always refusing her family's advice to seek hospital treatment. Eventually, her family forcibly took her to the hospital, but it was too late to save her. Not long after this meeting, Liao Zhen passed away.
Li Yao Died from Untreated Illness
The third case mentioned by Wu Jian is about Li Yao (pseudonym), also from a city in southern Hunan, who met Wu in 1998. At that time Li Yao had retired from mold making. He was skilled, and could also write beautiful print characters. After 1999, he used his expertise to do many illegal things, spreading many rumors and heretical teachings in order to fulfill Li Hongzhi's mission of “clarifying the truth”. However, what was the result for him, who devoted himself to the cult, progressed diligently, and practiced earnestly? When Wu Jian first met him, he was 60 years old, healthy and robust. He often voluntarily helped practitioners' families with plastering, installing water pipes, and repairing furniture and appliances. But after practicing Falun Gong, Li Yao went through several instances of “eliminating karma” (Falun Gong practitioners consider the process of getting sick as “eliminating karma”), and his health began to deteriorate progressively.
Once, Wu Jian heard from a practitioner that he had been sick for a long time. To help him eliminate the so-called interference, a former Falun Gong instructor had organized practitioners to go to his house to “practice” and “study the teachings” multiple times, and arranged for a 24-hour non-stop relay of “sending forth righteous thoughts” for him.
One day, they asked Wu Jian to help “send forth righteous thoughts” for Li. Wu Jian went to Li Yao’s house and saw him lying in bed. There was a pot used for cooking placed on the floor, filled with his vomit, which was mostly blood. His complexion was pale, and he was in a state of lethargy. Seven or eight practitioners were sitting by his bed “sending forth righteous thoughts” to help him. His son (who was not a practitioner) was beside him, urging him to go to the hospital. But he said, “I am a Dafa disciple protected by Master. There will be no danger to my life. This is not an illness, but an illusion. I will not go to the hospital.” Some practitioners also tried to persuade his son not to send Li Yao to the hospital. However, the son was very determined.
Soon, an ambulance arrived, taking Li Yao to the hospital. Wu Jian and a few other practitioners also went to the hospital. In the observation ward, he lay on the hospital bed, not cooperating with the doctors’ examinations and treatments. Instead, he persistently talking about the “truth” to the patient in the next bed and the doctors, while coughing up blood. Seeing this, a doctor asked him, “You say you're not sick, but you're coughing up blood. Isn't that being sick?” But he wouldn't listen, persistently defending Falun Gong. The doctor had no choice but to comfort him, saying: “Alright, you say you're not sick. Since it's late at night, you can rest now. We'll do some simple treatment for you now and give you a comprehensive check-up tomorrow. If you're not sick, you can leave the hospital tomorrow, okay?” He became quiet. He left the hospital the next day without completing his check-up items.
Since Li Yao's condition was unknown, he received no treatment. Practice had no effect on him. His body was getting weaker and weaker, and his spirit was getting worse and worse. Later he could not hear clearly, and his memory was fading. Many practitioners went to see him and helped him "send forth righteous thoughts". Gradually, he did not know anyone anymore, and stayed at home all day like a chump, often forgetting to eat. Finally he died of illness.
Wu Jian says that in recent years, anti-cult volunteers have been helping him. He has recognized the cult nature and harm of Falun Gong, and also realized that the three harm cases he personally experienced were all caused by the evil of Falun Gong. The facts have proved that Li Hongzhi's fallacious and evil “theories” can neither bring health to people nor cure diseases. Actually, Li is a thorough scammer, causing significant harm to people. Everyone must be vigilant against the dangers of such a cult.
