It was revealed that Maple Yip, the Hong Kong woman whose dealings with the South Korean cult Jesus Morning Star (JMS) was documented in Netflix's "In the Name of God" earlier this year, has recently appeared in court for the first time in South Korea to testify against the 77-year-old cult leader, Jung Myung-Seok.

As reported on Mingpao, the trial was heard at the Daegu District Court on 3 April, and ended at around 8.40pm after six hours.

It was revealed that the testimony of witnesses, including one of Maple's were conducted in a private manner, with only family members and the police were allowed to stay in the courtroom.

Jung was also revealed to have been removed from the court while the testimonies took place as to not cause any stress and anxiety for the victims.

In order to protect her privacy, it was reported that Maple's lawyer had requested the court to keep the contents of the trial confidential as many of Jung's followers had come to the trial and stood outside the court.

Maple is one of the few women who came forward to accuse the cult leader of sexual assault, amid several allegations of such offense.
