The Seattle "Falun Gong" instruction center announced that after the Seattle "Falun Fofa conference" was held for four days from November 29 to December 2, 1999, some "Falun Gong" followers would appeal to the world to enter into a dialogue with the authorities of the Communist Party of China when Chinese government officials arrived there to attend the WTO conference of ministers on November 30. The printed "appeal" was as follows: "We hope that the people of the world will support us and ask the Chinese government to enter into a dialogue with us to try to seek a peaceful resolution to the cruel suppression of 'Falun Gong' practitioners by the Communist Party of China on China's mainland." It also says that it hopes that all "Falun Gong" followers all over the world will sign their names to it and encourage other people, including government officials of other countries, to sign their names too.
What does this appeal really express? I think it has the following aspects:
First, the "Falun Gong" cult lingers on in a steadily worsening condition and still slanders China by accusing it of "cruel suppress 'Falun Gong' practitioners on China's mainland."
Since the Chinese government announced the ban on "Falun Gong" and exposed its nature, the cult, to quite a popular Chinese saying, "has become the rat running across the street--everybody yelling, 'Kill it!'" Its prestige is dwindling. Abroad, a series of facts also prove that the nature of the cult is being perceived by more and more people: It will not be long before it is cast aside by the people of the whole world.
However, why are "Falun Gong," its chief Li Hongzhi and his followers still putting up a desperate struggle, organizing secretly and making trouble?
This is because there is an anti-China force abroad which is attempting to use Li Hongzhi and his followers for its own ends.
Second, this appeal shows that "Falun Gong" continues to intervene in political affairs.
Although a "Falun Gong" spokesman in the US denied that the timing of the appeal was not deliberately arranged, saying, "We are here not in an attempt to influence any government's decisions on politics and economics; we are here with the hope of entering into a dialogue with the Chinese government, as we know it will send its delegates here." Let us ponder why they promulgated the appeal at the time that the state leaders of 168 countries were attending the WTO conference, calling on "Falun Gong" practitioners all over the world to sign their names to the appeal and encourage other people to do so. Is this not an attempt to influence a government's decisions on politics and economics?
Is it true that "Falun Gong" does not care about politics? Absolutely not. Let's examine what Li Hongzhi has said. He says, "Existing human society has deteriorated to its extreme point. Hence, no one cares about it"; "Now, social problems are emerging layer upon in an endless, stream. No government can solve them. Ethnic problems, problems between countries, contradictions between ethnic groups and burgeoning social crimes are headaches which no government can cure"; "The laws formulated by mankind place mechanical restrictions on people and shut them up...people are controlled like animals; they have no way out, and no one can find a way out"; "I am the only person in the world who can spread the orthodox Law of Buddha"; "My law-bodies are so numerous that they are beyond calculation"; "I can look after as many people as I want, maybe the entire human race." Li Hongzhi also boasts that he was wiser than Lao Zi, Buddha and Christ, he is the only person who can "deliver people to the Heavenly Kingdom," "realize the wonderful society of mankind," and "build a spiritual paradise." All this shows that Li cares about political affairs and intervenes in them so as to put his political ambitions into practice.
Third, this appeal reveals that "Falun Gong" will continue to conceal the nature of its activities.
Li Hongzhi repudiates modern science, and the results of enlightenment and all the achievements science has accumulated for several thousand years in human society. He claims that "Falun Dafa" is the most wonderful and sublime science in the world. To the "Falun Gong" practitioners Li is God or Buddha, and they have to worship him and obey him unquestioningly. Of course, he will not say and dare not say this publicly. Now he is absurdly accusing the Communist Party of China of ''cruelly suppressing 'Falun Gong' practitioners on China's mainland."
In fact, the attitude of the Chinese government is very clear: "Falun Gong," neither a religion nor a Qigong organization, constitutes a great threat to the Chinese people. The banning of the "Falun Gong" cult by the Chinese government is to protect the basic human rights of the Chinese people and their freedom of belrief. The government has only punished a handful of "Falun Gong" principal conspirators who planned, organized and orchestrated activities to make trouble, in accordance with the law. As for the vast majority of ''Falun Gong" practitioners, the government has adopted a policy of taking care of, educating and uniting them with the rest of society. Claims that "the Communist Party of China is cruelly suppressing 'Falun Gong' practitioners on China's mainland" is nothing more than slander.
Fourth, this appeal shows that the "Falun Gong" cult want foreigners who do not know the real facts and the handful of anti-China elements abroad to support Li Hongzhi and his "Falun Gong."
Since the Chinese government banned "Falun Gong" on July 22, 1999, people have come to know about the erroneous reasoning and fallacies of the cult, and the majority of the practitioners have been awakened and have joined the critics of "Falun Gong." However, Li Hongzhi, unwilling to accept defeat, continues to adopt fraudulent means to win sympathy from people abroad so as to impose pressure on the Chinese government. However, all his efforts are in vain. China's internal affairs are inviolable, and the Chinese government will not change its decision to wipe out the cult.
